Johnson won’t help the Sabres win games this year

he will be fine when he plays.

since minnesota likeky makes the tourney he can sign after the first weekend if minnesota is eliminated. Buffalo plays 4 games iirc sfter frozen 4 is done.

Levi OTOH…his team probably needs to win the automatic bid to get into the tourney.

So, Lance and Joe dropped a Maintenance Day episode today.

They think the ask on Meier is sky high. Like VO+Savoie+Kulich high. It was VO plus two 1st equivalents. If that is where things are at…

Also, Lance said he heard that Adams made a preliminary call on Meier and it wasn’t any sort of in depth talks. And it was kind of the same thing he’s heard with Adams calling the Yotes on Chychrun. He expects smaller deals like a physical forward and a depth D. They were wishing the Wild were out of it and Marcus was available.

If that is the ask for Meier that is an easy yes.

Islanders made a big move. Including a 1st round pick i‘ve been repeatedly told will not move in this draft

Adams is frantically on the phone trying to counter with more exploratory conversations.

Islanders also expect to be in the playoffs. It’s also a f***ton to give up if they miss or Horvat walks (assuming they don’t win the Cup. In that case it’s irrelevant).

The Sabres are not in the same boat, even if they’re looking at how to brain the captain of that boat

Are you sure people repeatedly told you the islanders wouldn’t trade their first? Sounds like something not true
Oh it’s much bigger.

Anytime I bring up trading a protected 1 I’m met with people saying no team would trade any first round pick because they believe mid firsts in this draft are like top picks in another. I’ve pointed out that isn’t remotely true…but hey…look at this…already got one moved.

He was repeatedly told that teams won’t trade their 2023 1st, not just the Isles. Although there are not many in play, and the only team I’m cheering for to make the playoffs besides the Sabres in the Panthers, because f*** Montreal

I bet a few more firsts are traded at the deadline. Not sure why anyone is telling you this would be the first trade deadline ever where firsts aren’t going to get moved.

They will

Islanders get Horvat who are chasing us.

Islanders don't lose much from their roster.

Wonder if that will help Buffalo out because it wasn't much of a haul for Vancouver sets the bar lower than expected.

This seems like a bad move by Islanders.

Who knows tho.. when you have a goalie like Sorokin anything can happen

I mean, they basically got rid of the two most valuable pieces in their prospect pool. Which is a lot to give up. And horvat is far from a perfect piece. BUT there’s a good chance Neither of those futures end up being as good as horvat. It’s an aggressive trade for sure

Yeah.. Islanders just scream a team in need of a rebuild to me..but Lou looks like he is giving it once last kick
