Knight was a Dale Tallon pick, something to keep in mind regarding a possible trade. Zito may not view him as "his guy."

I personally think we should hang on to him while his value is at its lowest.

I would normally agree if not for Knight's contract. If he's not in the NHL next year, I don't think we can waste 3.35M in cap space to keep him and in turn lose OEL or Montour to FA. A true Cup window usually only lasts a few years. We need to do everything we can to keep our current NHL players and have cap space to continue improving.

If Zito feels Knight won't be NHL ready next year, I think using his cap space to keep other players is more important. If we can't trade him, I would even consider a buyout as that still saves 2.6M in cap space. None of this is ideal, but his contract leaves few choices.

Duclair has big 'got moved for a reason' energy hanging over him.
He was moved out to bring Rodrigues in. The contracts are a wash. So we essentially got an upgrade for no money spent and no assets lost

I guess the question here is where would Duclair slot in? Cause the only seat that would be replaced is Cousins and Duclair wouldnt fit on that line.

Could put him back with Barkov and run Reinhart with Lundell again and put Erod with Benny

The more I think about it, I think the team is just stuck where it is which isnt a bad thing

Duke actually had 11 points last playoffs lol.

I think I’d be good with not doing much honestly. Sometimes you just have a good thing going and you don’t want to screw with the recipe.
Playoffs are a crapshoot. You look at the Bruins last year, everyone thought they'd waltz to the Cup and yeah idk what they were doing with their goaltending refusing to go off injured Ullmark, but honestly Florida was hardly outplayed by them and it deserved to go the distance. Because of that, I do want to see them add because you want to say you did everything you can do to win and let the chips fall. If the Canes get Saros and Florida stands pat, it'd be very hard to argue Florida put themselves in the best position to win.

I get the logic and there’s a case for adding and a case for not. I think it really depends on the market. What’s out there, what’s the cost vs. the good team chemistry we’ve been building on throughout the year and preserving that.

We can say they’re professionals and they need to be able to adjust to personnel changes. In theory, I completely agree and respect that, but then there is also reality. These players can acknowledge the need to perform in the midst of changes however big or small, but the reality that plays out can be different. I’d just hate to get the team out of its groove that it’s so clearly in.

Bjugy is signed through next season at 2.1m while Crouse is signed through the 26-27 season at 4.3m.

Would have to work something out in order to fit Crouse in under the cap,if available.

For sure,

Luostarinen-Lundell-Bjugstad could be a great 3rd line.
Rodrigues likely needs Barkov to start scoring again.

Crouse would take a lot to get.

Whatever we do, I just hope for one more forward. We’ve been scoring fine lately and it’s not like offense is a problem (though it was at times earlier in the season), but I feel we are missing one more second/third line winger to slot everyone where they should be ideally. You can never have too much depth in the playoffs and it’s inevitable someone is going to get hurt - put me on team “let’s add.”
