Yeah this chatter around us and Hanifin...

I don't see the need. If we go after a D-man instead of a Top 9 winger, I am disappointed. The D is fine, it's like 2nd in the league.

We need a 200ft Top 9'er who brings a slight scoring touch...basically an upgrade on Cousins.

Considering how both the Canes and the Laughs responded in the same fashion to getting whooped in the playoffs by acquiring a pest (Bertuzzi/Bunting) and an enforcer (Reaves/Lemieux)... Gadjovich has a (limited) role with the Panthers in the playoffs.

Zito probably knows that an extra touch of goal scoring would be nice but I don't think that they are willing to make room for that by reducing the agitative qualities of this team.

I mean Hanifin is a upgrade on Montour...

I've watched him a ton and I fail to see the upgrade part. He's not better offensively and defensively he has been prone to brain cramps in the playoffs. The only thing going for him over Montour is that he is three years younger. Which is not nothing but still, I'm not sure acquiring him is worth losing Lundell and rocking the locker room.

Lmao wait what

Jeff was all up on they business? Lmao he's so gonna be a Panther in the near future

Jeff blocks people that criticize Jacob, probably because he just doesn't want to see it, but the it upsets all the sensitive Ottawa fans for some reason.

It’s only 3-0 who cares
Zito should stay put at the deadline like he did last year. Last year because we were behind the 8 ball in the playoff race and there was no point in any moves also due to cap constraints assets etc. This year because he simply already beat every GM in the offseason. Only the Jets have less goals allowed this season than us. Billy is the GOAT. His reclamation projects are simply the best ever. Homie turned in his assignment before the due date. He already built his team for the playoffs in the offseason.

It's the golden era. I love watching this team. The last few years have been positive and exciting. My man Zito is a genius!

Knight was a Dale Tallon pick, something to keep in mind regarding a possible trade. Zito may not view him as "his guy."

I personally think we should hang on to him while his value is at its lowest.

You only think Knight's value is at its lowest because you expect him to be great and he has shown flashes in the past.

I think his value can sink even lower, tbh.

Duke would be a cheap upgrade over cousins in the top 9. Has good chemistry with Barkov, which could allow Reino to play with Lundell and bolster our lines if needed. Or we could even try him LW with Bennett-Tkachuk since he adds speed to the line while they are the better forecheckers. At the very least, would add a scoring touch to Luosty-Lundell. Knows the system, knows the locker room. Would help PP2. Would be pumped to come back after losing all season with the Sharks lol.

He's not my top choice by any means, but I can think of a lot of reasons we could use him

If LA keeps disintegrating, I'd like Matt Roy. I know we don't need more defense, but he has been very good this season and he'd come cheaper than Hanifin, but still quite expensive.

Yeah but Barky was also a Tallon pick (or the scouts’ but under Dale). And Zito gave him a huge contract, happily.

If someone could tell me that Duke will start throwing checks and playing hard nosed defense, I’d want him back. I’m just not sure if he’ll do what it takes. He should know what it takes - is he willing to commit to it?

It depends. If you believe there's a good chance he is a future n. 1, then trading him now with his value low would be very stupid, especially since we also need someone to eventually replace Bob. If not, then sell now while he still has the pedigree and some GMs believing in him, even though the return will be much lesser than 2 years ago.

The problem is that it's probably somewhere in the middle of those two scenarios. Hopefully our goalie scoits/coaches make the right assessment.

I'm not excited to watch Cousins play at the spot where it could easily be Verhaeghe or somebody more talented than Cousins.

Agree, Duke was decent last playoffs. He was making quite a few nice passes that just didn’t get finished. Not sure if we should bring him back or not though.
