I think trading away a regular roster player from this team is unnecessary boat rocking. Yes, even someone as bad Cousins would rock this boat unnecessarily.

Mahura would be the safest move that wont affect the team but then hurts our depth.

Who really knows. But I hope Zito has learned that maybe continuity is better than doing too much.

Even then trading Montour now would be a huge affect on the locker room. As much as we dont want to, he needs to be treated as a self rental.

I don't think Zito would trade him. But let him walk at the end of the year. Hanifin is younger and if Montour is asking for too much, then it kind of makes sense. But seems like assets could be spent elsewhere.

Fire Zito if he trades Lundell

I don't think this info comes from Zito, more likely other teams salivating about getting Lundell at a low price tag. Flames probably want Lundell + Mahura + 2nd round pick for Hanifin.

A vastly better option in terms of retaining value is to wait for the off-season, trade Ekblad for a top6 winger and sign a top4 RD from the free agency.

Since the Panthers are not in a dire need to get immediate help, it's imo better to wait for the dust to settle and only then make a trade at a bargain value.
Wise man JLD: I think the rumors are driven by stat watchers who think Lundell is struggling all around.

I'm listening to the 32 Thought Podcast right now. Elliot's words were a little taken out of context in that tweet.

He was comparing our ability to make a trade vs other contenders like Toronto or TB. Said Toronto/TB's cupboards are bare as far as picks and cap space, whereas we dont have picks but have valuable young players that teams want. He said Lundell's name as an example, but it didn't seem like he had an inside scoop or anything. Just an example of a player that we could use as a chip if we wanted to, but he doesn't know that's the case.

Hanifin is more of an offseason option to me. I think the lundell stuff is just wishful thinking because Florida is one of hanifin's extension destinations and we don't have draft picks. If we traded lundell it's just creating a hole for an upgrade on D that is not really needed this season.

Some people doesn't care

THAT SHIT DONT EVEN MAKE SENSE lmao

We already dont have enough right handed d-man? Then Play like pros? lmao With how this team harps about always fighting for each other, yeah lets just punt some guy in the middle of the season.

And God Damnit, Forsling is a non-starter. He is legit one of the best dman this season across all teams lmao

yes but then what are we really improving?

To go from the 2nd best defensive team to 1st? While paying a price that will include multiple pieces? Extension with what money?
Montour 's money?

If they get the sense Monty is asking for Hanifin money, then it makes sense. And they get a guaranteed extended Hanifin.

It doesn’t make sense that Lockwood is still with the bigs, considering it is a waste to pay him $775,000. Unless, someone like Lorentz is leaving.

I’m with you. That’s exactly how I took it when listening to that part of the podcast.

I currently just dont see a flaw. Maybe goal scoring? But thats something we already knew. Any upgrade would be a middle 6 add.

We arent reliant on goaltending.
We arent reliant on PDO or a high shooting percentage.

If our goaltending takes a dip, our defense can make up for it and vice versa.

If our shooting percentage takes a dip, which we are already below league average, then we win on defense.

Our PK is fine now, our PP is fine now, the improvements would be on the margins as our ceiling is already a cup.
