Oh ok I didn't see that. Idk if Zito is gonna use the few assets we have though on a project. We're in win now mode. And Samoskevich is gonna have a hard time cracking next season's lineup as it is.

Ya just more bored than anything I guess, doing some random armchair GMing.
We also have Sourdif as well who is itching for a graduation.

Just thought Kaliyev may be an interesting buy low candidate and can add some depth scoring if both Samoskevich and Sourdif marinate for another year in AHL.

Not sure if Zito will fast track and use the assets for NHL ready players who have some control left. I'd think he starts to keep most of the 2026-28 picks to keep the prospect pond stocked up.

For the even more hated category, after missing out on Perry, can you imagine if we picked up Nick Foligno or someone like that?

Folingo just signed an extension with Chicago like a month ago

I get the idea, if it was someone like Hagel I'd part with some picks, but Kaliyev doesn't strike me as a win-now player. In that case, I'd rather use our own picks.

Zito really wants tarasenko? I don't see it anymore..
We'll all be getting a chance to see him shift-by-shift Tuesday against one of the better defenses in the NHL.

He's having a decent season on a bad team which tells me something about his compete level, my
only question is if he still has legs cause on this team you have to pull your weight on the forecheck.

At 50% retained we may not have enough to dangle in trade for what The Sens may be asking, or possibly being offered by other clubs in the playoff hunt.

I personally think Zito will pluck somebody more obscure from another club who isn't getting the TOI
or being put in the most effective role...like a Oskar Sundqvist-type...and possibly give up a conditional pick and a lesser prospect. I just don't see(cap space/ asset-wise) Zito having a whole lot
more options realistically.

Do we even need a trade anymore? We still have Lockwood Sourdif Samo waiting and the trade would be for where exactly? Pomo loves Cousins on the second line and Erod is either 3rd or 1st.

Anything we get is to improve the margins on the forward group and not the ceiling which isn't that big of a deal

I think none of those three are ready for playoff hockey. I'd assume that we'll see Dalpe again if a flurry of injuries occur.

If the mgmt doesn't trust Uvis, Carlsson, Kiersted, etc. then I could see another Hagg-type trade at the TDL. There's not enough cap space to make a bigger trade and I don't see Zito trading away e.g. Lorentz to carve out an additional roster spot.

Agreed on Dalpe actually

If anything, they might call him up for the Final if we make it to get him a ring

Florida has 5.7m in deadline cap space so Ottawa wouldn't have to retain

Injuries are always a risk as we've seen last year. I'd rather have these guys waiting in case we get banged up.
I don't think we need much really; ideally, Zito can find us a third line winger for cheap (something like Vatrano for a 3rd all those years back) and call it a day.

Dorion is gone too, so, maybe the new GM won't be as opposed to trading in division.

That Hoffman trade always will get a chuckle out of me on how it went down

I believe his cap hit is 5 mil, if I'm not mistaken. I understand that The Panthers have the space, but...also taking into account whatever assets you give up to get him...after that you have little left for any other move.

You do that as a GM you better be damn sure.

Goalie we are set with Bob, stolarz and Knight.

D we have mahura and UB as 7/8 D which is pretty good depth.

So IMO the only thing we really need is some forward depth, ideally to push cousins to the 4th and push gads as an extra forward. Whether we have the assets for a guy like Tarasenko is another question, but I think Florida realistically only adds 1 forward at the deadline.

Which I don't get anymore. It's not like he is tearing it up - on pace for 16 points this season. It's true he is fun to watch and a pain in the a** for the other teams. But there must be a better option that makes this line even nore dangerous (if Verhaege sticks with Barky)

Yeah, we don't need much else.

I get the want to push Gadjovic out but then you have to ask why? I cant recall the last time our 4th line had a bad game and they do their job. Do we want more scoring from them? I dont even think we need THAT and it's not even recency bias. And if you push Cousins to that line that wont really affect that.

And forward changes would be Cousins out of the lineup and good luck with that lol and I am of the head officials of the Get Cousins Out Committee.

And chalk this up to something that wouldnt make sense to me either.

Losing Lundell would just weaken our forward core and what would Hanifin improve from our D that it needs improving in the first place?

I don't think this info comes from Zito, more likely other teams salivating about getting Lundell at a low price tag. Flames probably want Lundell + Mahura + 2nd round pick for Hanifin.

A vastly better option in terms of retaining value is to wait for the off-season, trade Ekblad for a top6 winger and sign a top4 RD from the free agency.

Maybe that's why Zito is trying to land Henrique... Maybe he's in on a lot more than we thought...

Since the Panthers are not in a dire need to get immediate help, it's imo better to wait for the dust to settle and only then make a trade at a bargain value.
