Does Ek have a 10 or 15 team NTC?
If he'd sign an immediate extension then I'd want something added to Crouse but ya they'd have the money to pay him and shores up their RD pretty well.
Per capfriendly, Ekblad has a modified NTC and will be providing a list of 12 teams he would not be willing to be traded to.

Bobrovsky will be submitting a 16 team no trade list on July1, 2024.

As the ex president of the Ekfat club and the head CEO of EkMuscle Incorporated,

Ekblad looks closer to the Covid season where he might have won the Norris if he didnt get hurt than a shitter. Just hasnt scored as much.

Thanks amigo.

Odds that Arizona/Salt Lake/Houston is on his approved list?

Zito make it a 3way deal: send Ekblad to a team not mentioned in his NTC list and they'll give something to the Yotes.

Not related to this TDL but as a prediction how the cap dollars will be allocated in next season's lineup:

They don't have the money to keep either Ekblad or Reinhart in the fold. The new acquisitions mostly will be, yet again, reclamation projects on a 1 year deal. Vilardi is just a placeholder for the return Zito's getting from trading Ekblad.

Can you type it out please?
Or send a carrier pigeon?

We've had discussions before but DET and DAL remain my top two spots for Ekblad.
I prefer DAL of course, out of conference and they develop a ton of good young defensemen.

He grew up a DET fan so that can make some sense. Seider and him give a solid 1-2 punch on RD but prefer not to make a division team better.

Does NSH have any top flight D prospects or Mikkola types + a 1st we could flip later for another player?

"We think we have a way that we can" = I have a fair number I can offer each of them to keep the whole band together.

"We have to respect the individual/ where there's a will, there's a way" = But it takes 2 to tango.

To me this comes off as he's really pushing for the guys to sign team-friendly deals to keep a great situation going. We all hope they bite on that.

Speaking of contracts, I didn't know Zito got 5 years but I'd hope they announce another 5 years or more for Bill in July 2025.

He signed in September 2020.

That’d be an amazing job. Zito for President!

Game changing GM, arguably top 3 in league right now.

Wondering if Bill will ask Vinnie for more signing bonus acceptance/opportunities?
You can delay them a couple years while Barkov and Tkachuk eat up a lot of it right now.

Kind of the only way Bill can balance the scales in negotiations if the players are taking a haircut.

Remember, Bill was a player agent so he understands both sides of the tango.
I really think we only keep one of Montour/Ekblad but Forsling, Reinhart and Lundell are the key keepers.

We have 2 or 3 prospects that may get promotions for cap savings as well.
Sourdif/Samoskevich/Carlsson/Kinnunen?

Surely Bill will take a reasonable deal like he’s pushing others to do …

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Beauvillier (2milx1)
ERod - Bennett - Tkachuk
Luostarinen - Lundell - Vilardi (3.43mil)
Lomberg (1.5milx3) - Stenlund (2milx3) - Gadjovic (900k)

Forsling (6.5milx7) - Matt Roy (5.5milx4)
Mikkola - Montour (6.5milx7)
Seeler (1milx1) - Chris Tanev (2.5milx1)

Cap hit : $87.42mil

I'm kinda expecting Matt Roy to be acquired at this point considering that the Kings do not seem to be interested in re-signing him and he's been an analytics darling for a while now.

Beauvillier could be had at a bargain price albeit only for one year.

OEL is going to get some $4milx3 deal from some other team and Zito cannot match that offer. His point production and scumbagginess will be missed.

I don't think Zito is interested in adding another dman prospect(s) when the cupboard is already full of them. Crouse or Marchment is something I'd expect as a return in a trade in terms of value.

The team who trades for Ekblad will be jumping with joy but all that merriness will dissipate once they've witnessed couple of times that Ekblad is slow af, isn't a point producing juggernaut and his decision making with and without the puck is inadequate at times.

e: since Harley is more valuable than Ekblad, Nill will probably keep him and eventually let Lindell walk. I know that you want something from DET or DAL but I don't think those are teams after a guy like Ekblad :)

imo "respecting the individual" means that Zito is not even going to present a contract offer if the discrepancy between the Panthers and the marketplace is more than e.g. two mil per season.

@Jean Luc Discard

What's Beauvillier's game, don't know much about him, how's he been last few years? I know @violaswallet been moaning for his services all year.

As for Villardi, he's an interesting case, at 24, still has another ceiling to smash through.
Just unsure if Ekblad would accept a trade to WPG? (you keep trying to send him to likely the least favorable places:laugh:)

Do like Roy for sure, we should stay away from Pesce as backup plan too, been seeing tons of CAR fans say he's gonna decline hard and fast.

What about Dumba behind Montour? Him and Mikkola together?

Seeler seems like overkill on vets, let Balinskis/Carlsson/Kinnunen get a look no?

 touchè, very good point.

Not sure what exactly the Panthers would be getting with Beau but I'd imagine that he'll be one of the top guys in terms of value/$$$ in free agency.

Outside of Beauvillier and Roy, the new guys are just placeholders to illustrate that the Panthers do not have the cap space to retain the services of Reinhart and Ekblad. I picked Vilardi just as an example of a cost controlled player who can be had for couple of years before letting him walk to free agency.

Dunno about Dumba or Pesce, haven't watched CAR and ARI recently.

Call me crazy, but let's say there's noting really for us to do at the deadline, what if we actually helped retain salary for maybe a Western conference team to get some futures back...? Cap space is an asset and if we don't use it, we lose it. Worth the risk it helps a Western team and bites us in the Finals?
