Oh trust me, if he made a move that made us a better team now and turned us into legit Cup contenders, I'd be happy. But you have to give to get, and we don't have a lot worth giving.

.

We have a 2016 1st and prospects which seems to be the going rate for help on D.

Looks like that ship has sailed though so it's time to settle in and enjoy our run.

Michalek is still out there and would be great to deal a 4th for him but the Wings and Tampa haven't done anything so doubt we would get him cheap. Love to pluck one of the Ottawa trees for a cheap prince (Cowen would be great but haven't seen his name mentioned at all)

Clearly you're right. Then again, the future is not guaranteed. We have the best possession team in the league RIGHT NOW, and finally we have adequate goaltending for a real run. I can't blame Garth for taking the long-term approach, but he absolutely would be justified if he decided to go for it this year.

Which is why you go for it when you're close. All it takes is one injury. All it takes is for one prospect to not pan out. You never know when you're going to get this close again. Ask the New York Mets.

Best case scenario is late tomorrow night (or whenever the trade deadline officially ends), there's still somebody left that Snow's interested in, and is able to get him at his price.

I'd really like to see Donovan moved, the kid has no future in this organization and I'm sure a bottom feeder wouldn't mind giving him a look. I'm convinced Donovan's inability to develop accordingly played a big role in us acquiring Leddy. I remember watching the Isles against Bruins preseason game this year at Bridgeport and thinking this team has no defensemen who can transition the puck up ice.

Sather gonna Sather.

Fingers crossed he trades Skjei and their 2017 first for a middling top-9 forward. That would be tremendous. It would also be fitting if they shipped out Hayes to a cellar dweller - especially after Hayes made such an effort to avoid signing with the Blackhawks and hook up with Kreider again, lol.

If Donovan found some love from a GM, I would think Garth makes that move. Same goes for Hickey. If we hadn't had the injuries to the forwards or depending on the prognosis is for Kyle or Grabo, I would have been willing to trade Grabner. I haven't seen what Grabo's status is and if it is another concussion, the severity of it-but I doubt we would be trading an NHL forward.

I think most of the elite players (Kessel and Phaneuf excluded) have been traded so I doubt that any team would be looking for our blue chip prospects. I personally am glad we didn't trade them, since I don't think we are one player away from a realistic chance of winning the Cup.

Snow is stupid for standing pat.
Other teams including the Rangers are getting better and he's sitting on his freaking hands.

Now the Rags traded for Sheppard and the Sharks retained salary. At this point, it is almost comical. I dont even care about Sheppard, he sucks, but how can one team be allowed to keep bringing in players and not paying their salaries. Between this, the yandle trade, the ryan mcdonough trade for freakin scott gomez, is there some kind of conspiracy going on in the league to get the Rags a cup?

And Eric Cole to the red wings? Seriously this has been a nightmare day. Pittsburgh wins, Washington winning. the Rags, Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit all getting better....aaaaaaand the Isles do nothing. Literally nothing. They couldnt try to get Glencross or Cole?

They should replace CHAD because hes beyond bad and pick up Semin lupul or Gagner for cheap.
Donovan and Strait could be placed on waivers for all I care.

Mortgaging what?? The Rangers have $$$$$$$$$$$$ come free agency they will be in the hunt to sign anyone they please. We will too once we move to BK.. Unfortunately we are stuck with a small market mentality.

In the future nothing is guaranteed and I am not a fan of wasting a perfect opportunity that we have.

They gave up Callahan, a 2015 1st (deep draft) and 2014 2nd last year for an awesome, but aging MSL.

They just gave up a 2015 2nd (again, deep draft), a 2016 1st and Duclair, stud forward prospect who was great at the WJC this year for Yandle.

That's alot of assets. Your forgetting there is a cap. This isn't the MLB Dutch. Their as good their 73 Million.

God a lot of people here are alarmists.

Yandle is a real good player on the PP but mediocre at best 5 on 5.
Sheppard is a downgrade from Stempniak

Not exactly worried here. If Snow stands pat I'm fine with it. I'd like a better Dman on the bottom pairing but it's not make or break.

So a trade for the sake of a trade?
