I don't know, Buffalo doesn't worry me too much. They have one really good defenseman, mediocre goaltending and a couple of good forwards. I don't think they will come remotely close to repeating last season again.

I think the future looks bright for them, especially if they sign and trade Tuch.

We should sell Tanev. His body is not holding up well at all, and he will hit the IR within the first 10 games of the season. Its inevitable

If we're really trading Carlo, we need to find another RD ASAP, because after Raddysh, we have no one except for a 50yr old Tanev

I would consider trading him now, but I’d be willing to take the chance on him being healthy at the TDL and move him then.
Remember the goal is 2 playoff gates and he helps them get there and they’re a solid position at the TDL then move him.

Does anyone have the dope on Beck Malenstyn out of Buffalo? Just over 11 min/g, 1'37"/g SH, 27, 6'3/209 lbs, 7g/7a over 81 games played last year and is a ufa coming off of a 1.35M contract. Oh, he also skates like the wind - last season the fastest measured sp. and had 282 hits. Is there a chance for growth or is he a fully developed player? I wouldn't mind having a 4th line with his attributes, along with Kasperi Kapenen at RW; players with size, will take the body, can skate and are decent defensive players. Couple them with Groulx/Quillan/Hymes do you have a capable 4th line costing around 8M?

Great trade by Sabres. Going to get another good Dman in the pipeline plus freeing up cap space for Tuch.

The Blues and Caps deal is interesting.

Barring last minute change, Tuch to hit free agency — The Fourth Period

As of this moment, all signs point to Alex Tuch hitting free agency next week and leaving the Sabres.

According to sources close to negotiations, today’s talks have left things “status quo” between the two parties and as of now it is “very likely” that Tuch will test the waters next week.

Several teams are believed to have their sights set on Tuch if he hits the open market, including the Seattle Kraken, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks.

Tuch is expected to command around $10.5 million and $11 million per season on his next deal.

In 79 games with the Sabres this past season, Tuch registered 33 goals and 33 assists for 66 points.

I remember in late Nov. writing something to the effect of 'take it down, but don't undersell our players when moving them for future assets. This team sucks.' No fan of Tre, but even I didn't see how bad a fit Berube was for this group. Mo, OEL, Carlo, but especially, especially Knies, don't undersell today. We've entered the NHL's version of Deadwood, anything goes, and I hope that Chayka can offer some of Al Swerengen's cunning, while Mats brings a bit of steely eyed Seth Bullock to the table. And for goodness sake, don't sit with your back to the door.

Rielly is still like a top 30 offensive defensemen even at his worst who elevates his game in the playoffs. He is far from a cap dump and sounds like he is willing to be pretty flexible with his NMC.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the return. We will also then need to get a defensemen that can score to replace him so that will be fun.

On Knies, he has a tonne of value because he is a bit of a unicorn in terms of production and physicality at a young age and unlike Brady, doesn't have any NMC/trade protection. It can literally be an open auction.

Plus teams like San Jose have an abundance of cap space and need to get to the cap floor

Rielly can’t play and that’s why Leafs are trying to move him. Add the fact he has a NMC so the few teams he’s interested in are either giving back a similar player type player or a mid range pick.
He’s not in his 20s or on the open market.

Carlo could be the 3rd RHS they add but then all three LHS are playing seperate pairings and Im not sure they would want that.

Also they do have Mrtka who is a RHS and a top 10 pick from 2025. If hes good enough he could Crack their team, if Not they could move him + 20th OA for Paryako type move before considering Carlo.

I don’t think they’ll play Mtrka this season and TBD on Timmins availability. Carlo is immediately their best RD.

Crazy flurry of activity last night, and I was out so didn't really have time to read through everything.

Doesn't sound like there are any credible rumours about the Leafs right now though, especially after Chicago traded their 4th OA?

Only got confirmation that Rielly prefers the West if a trade materializes. And that Carlos name is out there. Seems likely both are gone... When that happens who knows.

Right now we have the Bobrovsky strong rumours and punting 2 Ds out.

Nothing so far has indicated he wont. In fact the opposite has been alluded to for quite some time.
