GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

Not that I'm into the whole Bobrovsky thing, but the Panthers were unethically tanking last season, so his numbers should have an asterisk beside them

Apparently, the Panthers gave the term BOB was looking for but not the money. Oof, this is gonna sting a little if he comes

Didn't listen to the segment, but this screams Kyper bullshit.

How does somebody get upset about this media response?

"I’ll start by saying that in my experience with Auston in Arizona — I was the GM there when he was coming up, before he was drafted even — and from watching him live, you see his passion for the game and the quality of player and person he is. I was very fortunate to get to know his dad, Brian, and his mom, Ema, and his sisters, family, and agent. You get a really good perspective on who Auston is and the type of people he surrounds himself with."

Im sure he at least met Auston's family once and even if he didn't, that's 100% a fair media trained response to a media question asking about Matthew's future.
It wasn't Kyper, though.

I posted the vid after that. It starts around 28:40

I don't see any sense in a Bobrovsky signing. He cant directly mentor AA without us prematurely dealing Hildeby and hoping we don't have a new Rask and Pogge case on our hands.

The Rask trade hurt doubly so because we got Raycroft back, someone's 3rd goalie on a downswing.

If we were adequately compensated...it might be a different conversation.

Average shot distance against for Bob

2025-2026 - 36.2 feet
2024-2025 - 39.7 feet

An average of 3 feet closer last season is quite significant.

The only way this makes sense is if we know Bob is going back to Florida anyway and this helps him get a bigger AAV or longer contract than comfortable for FLA by driving up league wide interest. Kinda what happened to Marchand but weaponized.

So much that could happen it’s hard to make predictions at this point as to what Chayka may be up to. Very easy to build a roster with nothing more than money in free agency (assuming you can get your guy of course). But that would leave so many players like Robertson, Maccelli, Rielly shipped off without accounting for their returns.
Really if you can go grab a Tuch & Jenner for nothing more than dollars..I think you’re looking at a playoff calibre roster

McKenna-Matthews-Tuch
Knies-Tavares-Nylander
Cowan-Jenner-Domi
Lorentz-Quillan-Joshua

McCabe-Raddysh
OEL-Carlo
Andrae-Tanev

Lots of movement still to happen though I believe
That would be a very competitive team, and a decent mix of size and speed at forward. Would be ok if we just bagged draft choices for the guys who don't make the roster.

If this is real, then damn lol

They do with all free agent proposals all the time. Get the player to have a look and invision being a part of the franchise... blah blah sales pitch.

They also prep for all situations. He could legitimately stay in Florida.

They did that with the Kerfoot video during the Seattle expansion draft & they eventually took McCann.

Is it realistic that he signs with Toronto? It's definitely possible. But anything beyond a 2 year deal is ludacris.

Maybe Bob has another good year or two left in him...but that would make him a much better fit for a team like Edmonton or Fla or Carolina.

We just need him to have another good year or two then he can move to the backup position while AA is the starter
