Flame me if it doesnt happen because i NEVER do this. Check my record.

But heard from a person i trust, the picture is real.

My thoughts below:
Drawing the connection from rumors from Elliotte that the Leafs were given permission from Florida to talk. Which makes sense why Elliotte said what he said and then threw the tidbit about Ersson. Im guessing a signed Bob for Ersson.

Editing This: Bob isnt in Toronto and they havent agreed to terms but the interest is legit and the Leafs are exploring the logistics.
whoa. just whoa.
if this is true. wouldn't that be like the best goalie we had since Eddie Belfour?

Sorry you're doing a rebuild if you take picks for knies and they're doing a retool. I just don't see those two working in cohesion
Let's say it's Knies for 7+Wright+future 1st. They immediately fill 3C (with potential for 2C) and they have the future 1st to dangle for an upgrade on D. On top of all that they get an elite defense prospect in this years draft.
Beyond that is hate a bobrovsky signing ugh
Agreed.

Bob is 37 , what are we talking about here
Just to try and win in the last two years of Mattews contract? Nothing to this point would suggest he can / will lead a team to win deep into the playoffs.

He would be like the Tanev of defensemen. He’s 38.
I'd argue it's worse than Tanev because he's been relatively durable. At least with Tanev it was always known he'd spend the second half of the contract on LTIR. Bob could legitimately play for the next 6 years. He wouldn't be good but he'd be healthy.

Michael McLeod would be free and exactly the kind of centre that we need:

- Excellent on faceoffs
- Very good defensively
- Plays PK
- Very good skater
- Good hands and capable of producing

Not sure of his status regarding NHL availability though... has he been through a screening by the big bad Bettman?

Edit: Apparently, he would be eligible: Following his acquittal, the NHL reviewed the matter and officially cleared him to return to NHL play on December 1, 2025.
He is not only the snake behind whatever happened, he is the head of the snake.

Chayka can't risk the media storm, imagine Simmons....

I'm not moving Knies without a massive overpay, so I don't care really. The 7 OA and Wright doesn't do it for me anyway. 7 OA as a D, is a couple of seasons away from an impact, and while Wright is a guy I like... I'm not switching out Knies immediate impact, for hoping Wright turns into a 2C in a couple of seasons. I'm not thinking about this, unless O'Brien is attached to this as well... and frankly, Seattle would be stupid to do this deal.

Exactly my thoughts. When talking about the hypothetical Montreal trade as a division rival I thought we would have to extract a painful haul from Montreal to do the deal. Like core player back, Demidov level of extraction.

The Seattle package just looks like chump change in comparison.

Yes, they are trying to win a Cup in the next two years. Everything they have done to this point is for that purpose.

He would also be a mentor for Akhtyamov.

I’m not opposed to it at all, and if we have the cap space why not.

if he wants to play for a American team and a over payment is offered why not?
If Matthews is traded, it will be for less than people are hoping. He holds all the cards on where he wants to play.

The subtle differences between a) honestly committed, stated b) pure bullshit, aka Brady and c) not committed and keeping options open while setting difficult to ascertain conditions, paving the way for a “it’s your fault” exit soon.

Just pull the plug and do what’s right for the Leafs.
This.

4 x $9.5M
5 x $8.25M
6 x $7M

Pick your poison for Bob, he’s gonna get paid. I take the top one any day and would have full confidence in a Bob/AA duo. Hildeby/Stolarz with Bob this year, Bob/AA duo next year onwards.

Please don't get Bob. Our goaltending wasn't the issue.

I'm not saying I think signing Boborovsky is a good idea, but goaltending absolutely was an issue last season and if the Maple Leafs want to pretend they are "contending" next season their goaltending is clearly a weak link.

Agreed.

If they are getting a NHL player and pick(s) it would be for now and the future.

Is Wright undervalued, or drafted incorrectly?

Time will tell.

6 x 7M with the cap going up by 9.5 million the next couple of years. Got to think that Stolarz is going to be spending a lot of time on LTIR if the Leafs are considering this.
