I mean a Rielly trade seems like on obvious move

Carlo is another. Knies could happen but it is less than likely

If a Knies trade is happening, I would assume it would be before or at the draft, before teams with high-ish picks that want to get better now, like Chicago (4th OA), Seattle (7th OA), Ottawa (9th OA), NJ (12th OA), etc, use those picks.

We want to compete short-term, so to the extent a 1st round pick is a big part of the return, id think it's a high-ish pick from this draft that could contribute within ~2-3 years.

See this is the echo chamber, on speculation.

During Monday’s edition of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, Friedman reported that not only is he not convinced the Leafs will qualify Ersson but instead try to bolster the position with an established name like Bobrovsky.

I think they’re looking in goal. [Jordan] Binnington, if he’s available, they’ll check it. [Connor] Hellebuyck,  I don’t know that it’s likely; they’ll check it,” he said.  ”Bobrovsky, don’t forget Anthony Stolarz won a Stanley Cup backing up Bobrovsky. Nobody knows him better. And Steve Lorentz was Bobrovsky’s shooter,  he’s Bobrovsky’s guy.  He will always be loyal to Bobrovsky because Bobrovsky kept him in the NHL ’cause he would go shoot on him every morning.”

getting really nervous this maybe related to Nurse.
Rather not, but if no other options became available and Edmonton ate the difference in salaries I'd do it. Mo cannot be on this year's D, Nurse has his warts, but is the better player right now.

Flame me if it doesnt happen because i NEVER do this. Check my record.

But heard from a person i trust, that he is in Toronto and the picture is real. They have agreed to terms and now its just about working out compensation.

My thoughts below:
Drawing the connection from rumors from Elliotte that the Leafs were given permission from Florida to talk. Which makes sense why Elliotte said what he said and then threw the tidbit about Ersson. Im guessing a signed Bob for Ersson.
Any details you can share, without doxxing them, about how that person would have access to such information?

We've got the draft Friday and Saturday this week.

We'll likely see Rielly on the move this week.

The rights to Maccelli, Ersson and Robertson will be shopped.

We are in the market for a LD... such as Zellwegger. We are in the market for a C.. EP40, McTavish, Wright... all appear to be on the market.

These are all names that we KNOW, are out there. This isn't really speculation even.

Whether any of these deals get consummated this week or not... it sure does make sense to get it done before the draft.

While I hate the idea of giving Bob money and term... a deal like Ersson for Bob makes sense for both teams... if that's the direction they want to go... we can negotiate before UFA day, and get rid of a player we don't want. They gain a goalie they might have interest it, and dump a guy they aren't extending.

Moving Maccelli and Robertson NOW, gives us more ammo now, that is more valuable than next years picks... to aid in getting a Wright, McTavish, EP40, Zellwegger.. insert name of your favourite choice...

I had a thought, could you potentially do Stolarz + Ersson for Bob? Hildeby be the backup to Bob?

If they're actually signing Bob I wonder if they want him to mentor AA.

Can Hildeby play the year on the Marlies or does he have to clear waivers?

I'd feel alot better about this if it's Bob and AA with Hildeby on the Marlies and Stolarz wherever. AA and Hildeby are both 24.

Id rather play the beast and AA over Bob
Most would love one of them to grab it, but with 40 games(?) combined, it's hard to see them leaning on that, wanting to be a playoff team.

I wouldn't go for Bob myself; I'd just stick with Stolarz and then sign a vet 4th, as they did with Murray a few years back. But the logic for getting another goalie, regardless of Bob, isn't that nuts.

That’s the whole point. When you accept the 7OA you’re at the bottom end of the cream of the crop and not in control of what you’re selecting. Why would I blow my brains out to make this trade with Seattle not having total control over what I can select.

I’ll put it another way for you. If Chicago and Seattle were discussing a pick swap between 4OA and 7OA I’m pretty sure the delta in picks and control over what you can pick is worth a second rounder.

I'm not moving Knies without a massive overpay, so I don't care really. The 7 OA and Wright doesn't do it for me anyway. 7 OA as a D, is a couple of seasons away from an impact, and while Wright is a guy I like... I'm not switching out Knies immediate impact, for hoping Wright turns into a 2C in a couple of seasons. I'm not thinking about this, unless O'Brien is attached to this as well... and frankly, Seattle would be stupid to do this deal.

And the Bobrovsky smoke is building. A very do or die off-season ahead.

okay. while I am very much a strong strong component of just rebuilding and starting a new structure.
if Bobo hits market, I'm pretty darn sure we call up our fleet of Brinks trucks, right?

I think I only pull the trigger on the draft floor when I see how the board plays out

Because the Leafs have their own rankings and if their #3/4 guy is still on the board at 7, that can be the difference

Theoretically acceptable but it’s just not a very attractive package.
