I think it’s telling that media shit swirls a day after Tkachuk is traded. Matthews camp could just make a team committed statement once and for all and just say he’s happy. He’s not doing that. He’s keeping options open. And that means the exit from Toronto is right there.

He's not doing it because I have no doubt his agent is telling him that no benefit comes from public statements. That's certainly what I have told management/ownership of various teams over the years when there are rumours in the media. I don't think anyone should read anything into Matthews not issuing a public statement.

I'd say there has been some stretching of the truth. Chayka did say he had met with Matthews family, including Dad, Mom, sisters and agent. I did not find any quotes where he said they were close personal friends.

He spoke about his time with Coyotes and that Matthews was coming up through the ranks before he was drafted.

Additionally I looked for Shannon stuff and saw a 2019 Report he did.

Shannon was blabbing the other day. Someone posted a transcript a couple days ago. Alot of "I think"s attached to his words.

The so called insiders know nothing. Certainly not guys like Shannon. If Matthews is traded it will be the same thing as Brady. Chayka will walk away thinking they have to trade him because he won't re-sign. Brady didn't ask for a trade but made his intentions clear and then accepted one to help the team.

They may be behaving a bit shady, but thankfully the American players have more integrity than hometown, Canadian boy Mitch Marner.

Exactly, which is why you drop Stolarz not Hildeby. You're not going to get enough value from Hildeby to make it worth it. Keep the guy you drafted and developed instead of letting him be another Rask.

Or let him be on of the adds on a bigger deal for a goalie like Helly (not the centerpiece).

This isn't coming from me, but I do know some people in hockey circles. Take it with a grain of salt. Most have been reported anyway.

1) Leafs are aggressively looking for a goalie. I heard Bob or Binnington a few weeks ago. Interesting both names have surfaced recently. For the record, a lot of players want out of St Louis.

2) Looking to make a big splash at forward. Ideally a center. They are trying.

3) Tre had a verbal agreement to bring McMann back. He stored stuff here telling people he would be back. That changed with new mgmt and he ended up liking Seattle.

4) Chayka doesn't want to deal Knies. As reported, he only gets traded if its a complete overpay. Not a case of Knies asking to be moved or off ice issues.

5) Leafs are 100% taking McKenna.

Look at Knies and Nylander. Simple declarative statement about wanting to be in Toronto. They don’t have an agenda.

Yeah, I don't know where he pulled it from, but it was something I thought would get talked bout more than it did.
