Have to think having the 4OV and the ability to draft a top end dman for Buffalo if they move Power helps. Trade Power and then draft Reid while adding a player like Knies to play with that group is good asset management by Jarmo.I would agree that Buffalo would be hesitant to move Power... but I'm hesitant to move Knies. If moving Knies doesn't result in obtaining a D man, who can play on our top pair immediately, it's a deal I'm not interested in.... unless it becomes a ridiculous ridiculous overpay.
Power is stuck behind Dahlin in top offensive opportunities, and doesn't get a lot of PP time, or with the top unit. You aren't getting Power to be a #1 D, you are getting him, because the type of D he is, and will be, is exactly the kind of guy you want to be playing with Raddysh. He's the top results PK D on Buffalo, and provides a steadying influence on the D.
Power played a ton on his offside, babysitting Bryam... a guy who really doesn't know how to play Defense... and they ended up positive +-. He's only 23, still learning his craft, and signed for five more years.
Power and Raddysh would make an excellent top pairing for us, for years to come... frankly, there aren't too many guys you'd prefer to have with Raddysh, based on skill set, and age.
In the years to come, people will realize that they were sleeping on Power.... though he'll still never get the offensive opportunities to fulfill his potential in Buffalo. He'll be stuck on the 2nd line, not because he isn't good, but because Dahlin is elite.
Carolina had the same core, same coach for years getting ass blasted in the playoffs as soon as they face an Atlantic division team.Such BS from Chayka. I am so sick of the same core that never got it done. Over and over and over again. It's gotten quite stale.
Just from what I have observed I just haven’t seen it in Power. He isn’t a bad player, just not one that has wow’d me.
Sure if you give him more opportunities maybe he gives you more but he has never been someone I come away from watching and think that he is a star.
I think the market timing is perfect to make a big move and GMs love to add their fingerprint on a team. As great as Knies is if done correctly this could set the team up for years.I don't think Knies is getting traded. I even said so despite all the strong rumours lately. We'll see.

I kinda agree for the most part but I think you always have to draft BPA at the top part of the draft. It really depends on what else comes with any trade package right? If you get Power + 4OA... maybe you want the C? Whether that's Malholtra, or Bjork... we'd have choices. I'm not convinced Malholtra is going to be a first line C, but I think a 45-60 point, responsible 2 way game, is what we'd love to have behind Matthews... assuming he's here for the duration.
If you get forwards... like McLeod, or Helenius... then you probably draft D....
I think it's a...depends on what we've got, and what we need.

Pick the guy you think is the best prospect and figure the rest out later
Which sounds a lot like what I said he was. A real good #3.I don't think he'll ever wow anyone, ever. He doesn't have the game for it. Big guy, but doesn't throw the big hits you remember. (Unfortunately) He'll never have gaudy offensive numbers, or be flashy. What he will be, is a quiet, and effective D man, and I think in a few years, he'll be one of the best in the game at that. No flash, just effectively winning minutes, and at a high end level.
But, he has the game that would allow Raddysh to do exactly what he wants, and cover for that. It's about balance, and I think Power has the game to be a great compliment on a top pair, for a guy like Raddysh.
Oh I don't mean move Knies straight up. I mean Power, Helenius, McLeod and 20OV it has to be an over pay for me to do anything with Knies. I just think about Jarmo getting that 4OV when they absolutely don't need it unless he is trying to make a big swing here. My other thought is he is trying to get Thomas our of St.Louis.I would agree... but it's just not something I feel comfortable with... if someone wants Knies, it's going to be an overpayment, especially in division.... remember, we aren't shopping him, don't need to move him, it's others approaching us. If you want him that bad, pay up.. and it's going to hurt.
Sure but teams will definitely have internal rankings. And for me personally I wouldn’t have either of the Cs people are talking about ranked that high.Assuming there really is much of a difference in the ranking... if you've got a group of players that rank out pretty close to each other....
He’s already a good 3 . Guy was great defensively last year and is just scratching the surface offensively ( mostly hasn’t had the opps ) . He’s much much better than ByramI’m not that high on Power. I think he tops out as a good #3 Dman.
I also really don’t think Buffalo wants to trade him after they just moved Byram.
You will get much better value out of them from other players.
There is a link to Toronto here and it's that Werenski's agent, Judd Moldaver, is the same as Auston Matthews' and they both have contracts expiring in two years. The first question is: would Werenski be willing to come to Toronto? The second question is, if so, what kind of offer would it take from the Leafs to get him from Columbus? Would a deal around Matthew Knies and Colorado's 2027 first-round pick be a good place to start? Does prospect defenceman Ben Danford excite anyone after his performance in the Calder Cup playoffs? Would the Jackets want to explore having Rielly in this package? If Werenski is willing to come up north and Columbus acts as quickly as Ottawa did with Tkachuk, this could be a go big or go home chance for Toronto.
Kyper had this at the deadline:
Please give that to me today.
Then give me Knies for Helenius and 4th overall tomorrow.

What would we have to add to Carlo for Mrtka? Does a 2nd get it done?
