No Idea why they would. This is apparently a deal on the table and if it truly is on the table the Leafs need to seriously consider it. Will Smith is a #1 center in the making not Matthews tier but definately in the Suzuki tier.

I think it's a deal that might only exist in people's heads. San Jose is one of the few teams that doesn't need a player like Matthews. It's all moot anyway, because Toronto will not trade him.

Hilliers use of Clarke and Spence could be a red flag, imo but hopefully it can be somewhat better now if we do acquire him.
