I think if we're talking purely free agent signings, Saad and Galchenyuk would be really good. I could live with Tatar instead of Saad if the price is better.

There are a bunch of other decent options but... I can't shake Galchenyuk and the Leafs. He did so well with us.

Saad and Tatar are the only two FAs left who I would count as meaningful top 6 players, and Saad is almost certainly not going to sign for ~3.5 million. So it will probably either be Tatar or a trade
Healthy scratch in the playoffs Tatar I'm not calling meaningful. I'm not saying he's not useful, but he's not exactly in the same conversation as Saad for big signings imo

People were complaining for no reason. We were going to add a top 6 forward. Lets see who it is and how good it is.
Some people definitely will complain no matter what. I was complaining because I didn't like a certain singing but figured Dubas was adding another 3C or top 6W with the remaining cash. I'm thinking he goes trade and honestly starting to think it could be a decently sized one. Reports Kerfoot is being shopped so add another 3.5 million. Honestly thought they may have flipped Kerfoot to Arizona with picks for Garland due in part to Kerfoots low salary earned being attractive

I'm surprised Dubas didn't make a harder run at Foligno considering what he gave up for him at trade deadline last season...looks like he's signing with Boston for 2 years.

Re Friedman's tweet: we have 3.8m in cap space running a 19 man roster with one spot open. Can't get to 3.5 with any spares. 3.5 is either very "approximate", has us leaving a buffer, or is an end game number that factors in a trade or two

Tatar is definitely an enigma. He's been a legit top line caliber player in the regular season, but he's been unplayable in the playoffs according to two different coaches. I think it's worth betting on him turning things around, just because he's so good otherwise. The problem is, with 3 million in cap you're only going to be able to add a top 6 forward with big question marks

Yup I don't like the Kampf signing, however the others I liked. Others were complaining over anything. Compared to the other teams signings, Dubas did well today. We haven't seen his big move yet and that looks to be close.

I wonder what the market for guys like Mik and Engvall are right now given some of the depth signings we saw today in the 2+M range.

Ya definitely. Biggest thing dubas has done this last week is not make a stupid trade or signing like many many GMs did

I have a strong feeling you see Kerfoot shipped out and we bring in Saad + another winger. Kampf is going to be our third line center.
Definitely could happen. My worry with that is it puts even more pressure on Matthews, Marner etc to carry the team/produce and we know in the playoffs they can't always been counted on. Basically if Kampf is playing 3C the bottom 6 is getting f*** all ice time

Unplayable in the playoffs isn't exactly the mix we want to add to our young core that...can't get it done in the playoffs. Hard pass by me for Tatar

I have 3.5 mill with no Menell and no Engvall (whose spot goes to the new forward).

Should note that Liljegren has 400k worth of performance bonuses which could explain why the Leafs are hesitant to get him in the lineup. Sandin does not have performance bonuses.

That's the going rate for a cap dump asset who can contribute

Ghost cost a 2nd + 7th and he played more of the year and makes less (lower AAV)

Tarasenko has a chance of rebounding into an impact player (and outperforming that contract) if he can stay healthy, Ghost is what he is....
