Talking about Tatar. He doesn't drive play at all. He cheats and hope his team mates get him the puck. His impact is less than his point total.
Would that actually work better since both Marner and Willie likes to have the puck on their sticks.
If he signs, he will be in the top 6 and since the big four all drives play, they just another finisher on their lines.

That writeup statistically shows that your eye test is incorrect. It sounds like you have Tatar confused with someone else.

The offensive production is the least important thing we need to replace in Hyman.

I strongly disagree considering we literally were eliminated two seasons in a row due to our inability to put the puck in the net. I'm not particularly sure Tatar and his underwhelming playoff resume is the answer there either, but it isn't as if Hyman has been anything short of bad the last three playoff rounds he's been involved in.

So who are some teams that would be interested in Rielly?

Calgary is my best bet.

1.) needs trade
2.) needs puckmover
3.) has plenty of D signed for term.
4.) could very easily sign

i mean im honestly not even sure who Reilly would want to sign with?

Are you sure you're thinking of the right guy? Can you remember the specific games where that happened - the eye test/memory can be quite deceiving.

I'm thinking of the right guy.

Here's a writeup on Tatar from Sportsnet - sure sounds like a guy who would work on our top-6:

"Tatar is a skilled playmaker, capable of getting the puck to his teammates in contested scoring areas. Last season, Tatar completed 51.7 per cent of his passes into the slot at even strength, which ranked 19th among 320 forwards with at least five attempts per 60 minutes.
Tatar is able to buy time and space to create plays by beating defenders one-on-one at a high rate. At even strength, Tatar ranked 47th among qualified forwards in open-ice dekes per 60 minutes -- plays in which a skater beats a defender in open ice. An effective puck mover, Tatar ranked 98th in controlled zone entries and helped generate scoring chances at a high rate for the Canadiens when entering the offensive zone with the puck. Montreal produced scoring chances on 31.5 per cent of Tatar’s entries, which ranked 38th among all forwards."

You can have great zone entries by cheating offensively. In fact, getting break-away passes behind the defence is probably the best way to have great entry stats.

It's funny how Habs fans were so mad he was benched and now they're putting it in Leafs fans heads that he's a trash player.

Guy is really good and would look great in the top6

Habs fans were not mad he was benched. He made lots of mistakes in the playoffs, and wasn't a great forechecker.

I'm absolutely shocked that people don't want Tatar, especially if he signs for well below market value for a guy who scored 61 points in 68 games for THE HABS two seasons ago. Like? This is a team with no scoring talent and he almost went PPG. You don't even need to look at his impacts to realize that he's a great player even by eye test standards and production. He works hard, he goes to the dirty areas, he's a fantastic playmaker, he plays against ridiculously tough comp.

AND THEN his impacts are unbelievably good. How could this not be a guy you want beside Matthews or Tavares for less than 4M LOL.

Being good at getting into position for a breakaway pass sounds like a pretty amazing match for Marner. Not sure why you see that as a bad thing. Plus you've ignored him being one of the best in the league at completing slot passes - which would be amazing for Matthews (or JT+Willy). Hell even Marner can bury one-timers from the slot. Also you've ignored him being elite at beating a defender in open ice (with the puck), which again helps explain why his corsi is so good and again would be a great trait for our top 6.

with what everyone has paid for a defender you call up the kings tell them it starts with brandt kempe and a pick or 2 depending if its a sign and trade. mo and doughty could work out well for them.

Tatar vs Ritchie is just like Hall vs Foligno. Do you go for the legit top line player who is undervalued by the market, or the big guy who is overvalued? it's pretty obvious to me, so hopefully Dubas has learned his lesson

Problem is Tatar is probably looking to get paid a reasonable amount since he's still putting up 20+ goal seasons and around 60 points.
