We will be in trouble if Beck is our 2c for the whole season. It can work for a couple of games. But the whole season? nope.

8 games and no goal yet... Bust ! Send that punk to Laval or even better, to Trois-Rivières! And please all of you, stop with the Danault or ROR comparables, 2 of the best defensive centres of the NHL. What a disappointing player !

Because he is more of a 3-4C? Has he show any flash of elite offensive to be a top 6? Like i said, he could handle couple of games in the top 6. But playing as our 2C for a whole season at the age of 21 only? I don't see it. Hope Kent trade or sign a 2C.

Beck could one day develop and play as second line center. I don't see it happening next year. Maybe in his prime year (24 +). ROR? Come on... he will be lucky if Beck has 50% of ROR skill and defensive ability. He is one of the league best 2 way center.

If we want to make the playoff next year, we will need a better 2C than Owen Beck.

Jury is still out on Beck's full potential, he has only played a total of 9 career NHL games! I do not believe any expert on this board predicted that Suzuki would be the center on an NHL first line. He played there because there was no option at the time. He has done well! Habs do not have a number 2 centre, so Beck is playing the position. He may succeed or not. Let him play, who knows?

Beck will get bigger. He’s solid on his skates. Powerful stride.

He is solid on his skates. I don't think we have a boatload of forwards who could absorb the shock on that hit he took before setting up the Newhook goal. Heck I don't think we have a boatload of forwards who would be willing to take that hit to make a play period.

I’m not talking about bad picks. I’m talking about how they had young talented players and then told them they were shit. How many prospects did these idiots ruin?

But yeah, Fischer was a draft issue.

HuGo will be breathing a huge sigh of relief if Beck's consistency can translate to the NHL level.
It definitely opens up a wider variety of center icemen we can consider for 2C to go along with the option of looking for core vs placeholder. I also think it will make it easier for us to move on from Jake Evans who probably no longer fits our story line.

Beck was never in the picture for 2C.
2Cs are generally offensive players. Beck is your typical mix of grindy / full ice forward that plays in the bottom 6 in the NHL unless they become elite after 24 years old. He still has a window for that, but he has a long way to go. He needs to get 40 pts from the bottom 6 with no PP....he's not close.

McCarron too, they were pretty public about it too. Coming off an excellent season in Oshawa where he played shut down 2C minutes, it killed all his momentum dead.

McCarron started his AHL career with 20 points in 20 games.

Sly told him not to try and score goals because he wouldn't be a goal scorer at the NHL level.

McCarron proceeded to get a lot of concussions.
