As long as you continue to support the team regardless of what happens I'm happy for you.

I dearly wish I had your unconditional support. I just cannot support a guy that continually makes the wrong decisions.

I do, however, support the team (think logo/history) and have done before Kyle arrived, and will continue to do so when Kyle is gone.

A) He would have been signed already, FA is nutty for a few hours and then players sit until they settle
B) He hasnt been as good as any of those guys for about 3 years and playing in our top 6 can recover his value a bit for a big pay day in 2022

I think it is a lot more likely we sign Ritchie. He is local, has the Soo connection, and fills the same kind of role.

I actually think Ritchie would take a 3 mill deal from us, and then he expires as an RFA. Potential guy we can flip for picks next offseason when he prices himself out.

There was no wrong decision made today IMO, what would you have done differently today specifically?

I actually think if we are legitimately making a shutdown line mikheyev should stay. But that's the only scenario I keep him
Agreed. But I'd rather a guy to help shutdown that has at least a fraction of snarl. When you're frustrating the other teams top line, it helps to be able to physically make life miserable on them

What I would have specifically done differently would've happened a few years ago. Like I said, damage is done. We're just rearranging the deck chairs. It'll be a wasted year for some, but it's imperative we let Kyle go through the motions. Someone has to stop him, for the love of God, trading first round picks. But other than that, there's nothing that can be done. I just wish he'd stop and not make things worse. But alas, the Sun will rise and hopefully we'll be back on track.

Ahhh yes the inevitable the GM knows more than you comment

Ah yes, so neither of you can answer my question. It isnt what would you do differently in hindsight, the question is what would you do differently today?

Really not impressed with the way the roster is shaking out. Losing Hyman hurts and there isn't anything close to a replacement. The bottom six is a dog's breakfast with no identity. Fingers crossed that Robertson and Bunting can take big steps this year or they're in trouble.

Would love to see a big trade, something involving Rielly as I see them losing him for nothing next summer.

they can trade for a good one by trading picks and still be able accommodate that cap hit on the roster and still have cap sapce

that's a big difference

Oh ok it's that eaaaaasy. Teams will just trade a good center for picks. No problem. Wow. Your optimism seems to only work one way.

Not like this team doesn't have 2 elite level centers and elite wingers or anything... We'd rather have cap space to be able to find those players.

If only we had the cap space to sign Mike Hoffman, shoot...

Then what should he get, because he is one of the top wingers left available and there are worse guys who got a lot more than that in UFA?

Doesnt matter what happened already in FA, just what happens moving forward. There is a finite amount of cap and roster spots available and the longer a player waits the less money/sports are available.

Deals always get ridiculous early. There is a reason why Boston walked away from his 2 mill QO, I dont think he gets more than that.

I mean... What else is there? Bishop? Maybe Khudobin? Maybe Korpisalo, but Korpisalo has been bad since his playoffs hot streak.

Dubnyk is the only UFA remaining and he is more likely a WPG backup replacement than Colorado's starter.

Vladar was moved. Vanecek was moved. Rask is probably retiring at this point because I doubt he plays anywhere except Boston.

This same Boston team decided to sign Forbort to a 3 mill deal and give Foligno 3.8 mill. They made some smart signings but they'd also made some stupid mistakes too.

I don't see 2 mill getting it done. If it does, then bonus because we'll have some extra cap space left over.

Ritchie at this point is probably one of the best options available in terms of likely caphit and potential impact. That and/or trading Dermott for a similar calibre/upside forward.

I wouldn't have been in a position to have signed any of the guys that we did today. So it's really hard to answer.

But if you want to know, I would've signed Hamilton and I would've had the cap to easily accomplish that.

WOW.... you definitely need to read up on the difference between being optimistic and realistic

when having 2 elite centers and 2 elite wingers means not making the playoffs one season and never going further than the 1st round is optimism then i don't know what to tell ya....
