It has done. Many times. We're not jumping the gun here.

Adding a 4th line player doesn't make us a new team and everyone gets to start from scratch.

Again, the core isn’t changing so if your expectation was adding another core player. It was not happening via free agency.

Sorry to break it to you pal!

• Dubas is walked away from Hyman without trading his rights to Ken Holland. The Oilers GM’s best offer was reportedly two draft picks, including one in the top five rounds.

Maple Leafs sign 'excited' Petr Mrazek, trio of value forwards in free agency

Looks like Holland upped his offer from the reported 6th round pick but Dubas still didn't go for it.

Not sure about that decision honestly.

No one expected to add a core player with $148 cap space as far as I'm aware.

Dubas f***ed this all up long ago. Damage has been done and it's irreversible. We'll go through the motions until he's fired and then get another GM. Whether or not that GM can convince their bosses another rebuild is required, we'll find out.

We could be back to a decade of mediocrity in the mean time.

Regardless a one dimensional offensive forward with a questionable character isnt worth it
Questionable character was pretty much shown false with E.Karlsson wife being determined as not telling the truth regarding Hoffman's girlfriend

He's one dimensional but we don't have any good offensive players outside the big 4 at the moment

Apparently, this was a bar mitzvah of sorts for Kyle.

I was disappointed that we weren't able to bring back Foligno but if he's making high 3s then there's no chance we can add him. I also don't think he's worth that to be honest.

Even Suter, a guy I thought might be a decent target a wing, got over 3 million.

Leave, some of us are still a fan of this team

I think that is what people are failing to realize.

Did we add much? No, but how many of these contracts would people around here actually want on their team.

Say what you want about Dubas, but we havent had an anchor contract, or even a potential anchor contract, during his tenure.

If look around the other teams signing in the same division, both Habs and Bruins got better and tougher. Tampa got a good deal on Point signing (dont' want to mention again that it's a max deal). This 49% money tie up on 4 players have done so much damage and it's getting very ridiculous.

Montreal has NOT improved. They've lost more than they've added. And Hoffman despite being very productive can't stick anywhere which screams character issues imo (ie not well liked by his teammates)

I bet we see a 1x3mill Saad deal in the next few days

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Saad - Tavares - Nylander
Robertson - Kerfoot - Spezza/Simmonds (rest days)
Anderson - Kampf - Mikheyev

Actually looks good....

Why would Saad sign fo 1 year X 3M if Coleman, Hyman, Granlund, Shwartz, etc just signed the contracts they signed? Even Hoffman got 3 years X 4.5M.

I suspect Saad will be ~3-5 years X 4.5-5M.

A) He would have been signed already, FA is nutty for a few hours and then players sit until they settle
B) He hasnt been as good as any of those guys for about 3 years and playing in our top 6 can recover his value a bit for a big pay day in 2022

I think Dubas still needs to find a new home for Mikheyev and Engvall. He spoke highly of Gabriel, and lord knows that's the style we need more of. Simmonds I thought always looked better in the top 9...he struggles in a limited minutes role, almost takes him out of the game it seems. Bunting at this point will be looking at top 6. Dubas spoke of Kampf being great defensively as a C, so without a trade that shifts Kerfy to the wing. The way I see it right now is:
______-Matthews-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kampf-Simmonds
Brooks/Robertson-Spezza-Gabriel

Definitely still lots of time for things to change. But I think we see a few guys traded yet

I actually think if we are legitimately making a shutdown line mikheyev should stay. But that's the only scenario I keep him
