I think Anaheim would be a good trade partner for us as long as we could resign the players we aquire.

To Anaheim
Marner
Mrazek
Muzzin

To Toronto
Gibson
Lindholm
Comtois or Rakell

Leafs get a really good starter, a number 2 left d in Lindholm, and a replacement winger for the top 6.
Anaheim gets a #1 Rw capable of 95 points, A goalie replacement to hold them till their young goalie is ready, and a replacement 2 Ld to insulate their younger d man.

Sure hope we can do a lot better. I don't hate Lindholm as a Rielly fill-in especially if we're losing both Rielly and Muzzin in the same deal, but we don't need (nor should we really target) Gibson, and we absolutely should be getting, at minimum, an unprotected 1st round pick back for Marner. Either that or Zegras, in this deal specifically. If neither, then Drysdale.

Marner to Anaheim makes a lot of sense... at least to me it does. They have cap space and they are going to start trending upwards very soon with a huge need to upgrade in their top 6. Zero chance they trade Gibson though...

Lindholm would be a top target in free agency for us if he makes it there.

Anaheim can just keep Lindholm and Gibson if they want to compete. Leafs should go for a mini rebuild and ask for 2 of Lundestrom/Comtois/Perreault.

According to a lot of posters marner is the reason we are losing.

Nothing to do with dubas giving 4 players half the cap and not being able to have a 23 player roster or upgrade

Matthews going into a scoring funk

Reilly sucking at defence

Holl sucking at defence

Tavares looking real slow

Goalies not preforming

But hey let’s trade marner for other teams good players

No team is giving us their 3 good prospects for marner
AnaheIM isn this stupid like us thinking tavares gives us a cup

F*C% this Team

Fire Shannahan, Dubas and Keefe (I like Keefe... but UGH)

Hire Bruce Boudreau and Veteran GM

Leafs - Golden Knights

John Tavares & Jake Muzzin
for
Shea Theodore & Alex Tuch

Vegas is in Win Now Mode and desperately needs a #1 C, Muzzin fills in for Theodore
Toronto gets a young, top pair d-man locked in long term and a power forward

Leafs - Flames
Mitch Marner
for
Matthew Tkachuk
Leafs get a young power forward who plays with heart and will likely get less than $8.5M/Season
Flames get an elite RW who can play at both ends of the rink

Leafs - Wild
Alex Kerfoot & Travis Dermott
for
Ryan Hartman & Pick

Leafs - Canucks
Morgan Rielly
for
JT Miller
the Canucks get a top pairing d-man who is likely to re-sign (hometown boy)
Leafs get a two way #2 C

Sign:
Max Domi 3 x 3 M
Nazem Kadri 4 x 5.5 M
PK Subban 2 x 4.5 M
Campbell 4 x 2.5 M

Tkachuk - Matthews - Nylander
Bunting - - - Miller - - - Tuch
Domi - - - Kadri - - - Hartman
Ritchie - - Kampf - - Spezza/Simmonds

Theodore - Subban
Sandin - - - - Brodie
Veteran - Liljigren

Campbell
Mrazek

Matthews - C
Spezza - A

Just a mega trade with the Hawks, JT and MM for JT and PK.
Since both franchises need a reset.

I know this team hasn't started the way we all hoped and has looked pretty poor, but with some of these verbal attacks at players, we've got to be one of the worst fan bases in hockey.

Even the media is so passive aggressive towards everyone including Dubas down. Must be hell living here as a hockey fan during hard times.

Overall Still dont think its a talent issue, more than philosophy and game style. Bruce Cassidy would be ideal for coaching this team.

Fire Keefe and hire Boudreau

We're going to lose Rielly and sign Subban to a cheap contract.... let's not act like this isn't 100%

They'll probably sign someone like McNabb or Chiarot. Guys who can play in the top 4 and PK but aren't necessarily going to break the bank.

I mean how many other players making 9 or more million are in on their 77 game without a powerplay goal and went 18 without a postseason goal? Hell scratch the 9 million, how many other player playing regular powerplay minutes has gone 77 games without a pp goal? He has to be nearing a nhl record?

Marner is making it really easy to focus in on him.

It's the pros and cons of a big market.

They win a cup and these guys are walking gods in Toronto for the rest of their lives. Even the equipment manager might get a movie made on him.

But when you lose five 1st round series in a row as a core and now start playing like minor leaguers (Marner), this is what happens.

To be fair, I actually think the fanbase has been great with this core up to the Montreal series considering how terribly they've failed. But that series shattered all confidence and now they're getting roasted from all parts.

Playing in Toronto isn't even that bad, it's overstated. Delete social media and you're fine, the crowd is quiet win or lose for the most part. Try playing like crap in Philadelphia, you HEAR it.

Got to agree try doing that in an American city and see how fast they turn on you this team should’ve been changed up a lot more in the summer now Were seeing the results something’s Gotta give You can’t just keep showing up for a paycheque and this is clearly what Mariners doing if he doesn’t like the criticism then leave

The Knights never do that lol

I look at playing in Toronto as death by a thousand bee stings.... atleast in Philly/Bos you know the common media haters and can deal with the odd fan heckle.

But here, it's coming from every angle...right down to gam gam at the grocery store that's "actually a Habs fan"

Not really though… even if you delete social medi, the Leafs are always front and centre in the mainstream media on the radio and in tv.

It’s no coincidence to see players who have been lambasted in the limelight here, do well in other markets.

Maybe I am wired differently but I wouldn't want to listen to sports radio or watch TSN etc if I was a player or if I did tune in, understanding I could hear some stuff where I get criticized.

I'm also pretty self aware when I am not doing well so it won't really be a surprise to hear it. Hell, I already do hear it.

The media here is pretty scummy .. I.e. Phil Kessel and the hot dogs, the thing with Reiner’s wife, etc.

It's fascinating to me that hockey players are such bi-polar opposite athletes to most other sports. I can't imagine LeBron or Brady or Jeter or Messi or whoever saying that they prefer playing where there isn't much pressure or media presence. Most athletes want the pressure, they like the pressure and wouldn't play for the equivalent of the Arizona Coyotes at any given chance.

I think for the Leafs and the players, if you expect to be paid like a superstar in the league, expectations should be met. It's really that simple. Does it warrant verbal abuse or or the weird articles from the media? Of course not. But Toronto can give you a lifetime of support for just being a solid player and giving your ultimate all. Just ask Darcy Tucker or Tie Domi. But that goes for any sport in any city.

Players like Marner and Matthews don't seem to mind at all making their money and having the fame. I don't know how many times I've seen that Marner ad or Matthews doing his thing at celebrity events. But that mentality also comes with expectations. They don't owe us a single thing... but we don't either.

Ho boy. I don't like any of these. Why aren't we getting 1sts for any of Marner, Matthews, and Rielly?

Matthews: Z and D both top 10 picks, C a second rounder, + a second. Z and D considered in the running for the Calder, highly skilled and all controllable.

Marner: Z a top 10, though has never set the world on fire, a solid third line C who can score and penalty kill, Woods offering the toughness desired, a second + losing the cap hit Marner carries. MM is not playing well enough to gain a king’s ransom.

R and K: if you can get a first, great. I settled on the 2nd because as mentioned, McCann would be our leading scorer. Gio mentors Liljegren.

I like the options this team provides.
*cap space
*controlled assets
*strength where we have assets to trade. LW, Amirov, Robertson, McCann etc. Should allow for a decent return in an area of need.
*three young D who can provide, hopefully, a solid foundation for a good number of years.
*a young C, who in the NHL, has shown an ability to impress.

If the Leafs are broken, and I’m not sure they are, then I’d move both Marner and Matthews. If you can get better value returns, great. But, if we attempt to move them, I don’t expect it will be from a position of strength, and our returns will not be what we expect.
