Yes, he is leading in shooting percentage...In fact, he is leading the history of the NHL in shooting percentage because he is shooting 100%. He has ONE shot on goal this year and it went in. Did you really use shooting percentage for a guy who has ONE shot on goal in support of said player?

You took that seriously?

Yes I did...how am I supposed to know when you are making a joke or when you are just wrong?

About 20 pages earlier in this thread you questioned my hockey knowledge for suggesting Kerfoot's cap be moved if he is if bottom six/4th line...Two pages later you suggested a trade where we move Kerfoot for little to no return.

It's hard to keep track of when you are joking or just plain wrong.

I love Mikheyev and think he's a solid player but if there's a player I'm trading to create cap space/room for an upgrade... right now anyway, maybe that changes in 2-3 months when he's back. I'd put Ritchie at the top of the list but he just signed so I assume they'll give him the year.

I have no idea who will be sellers this trade deadline. All I know is that they really should target a player that can actually score and that can elevate the scoring of this team. I don't think I can take another addition of a veteran that can't score or be a difference maker outside of the dressing room.

Hertl is my early favourite but the cost to acquire will be very tough. If the Hawks don't get off the ground, Kubalik would be my other target.

Kerfoot + Ritchie is a 6m winger....damn if only.

It's actually 6 mill for 2 wingers. Leafs decided to have a 2.5 mill and 3.5 mill player. They could have chosen to do a 5 mill and a 1 mill player, or two 3 mill guys too.

Kerfoot + Ritchie is a pretty good way to spend 6 mill.

your not getting a better player than mik at 1.6 mil ... hes a steal at that price. hertl costs 3 times as much. both your suggestions are way out of the price range even if they retain 50%.

so far i would have to disagree.
they both play like a bunch of run of the mill 3rd liners with massive flaws to their game. you would be better off with a 5mil player (top line) and 1 mill filler for the 4th line.

Ritchie has been run of the mill. Kerfoot has been really good.

Also, run of the mill 3rd liners are getting that kind of money these days.

maybe on garbage teams .... the good teams out there are not spending that much on bottom 6 players.
i think they could spend the money more wisless than richie and kerfoot.

Look at the kind of deals offered in UFA, and they really are. And Kerfoot and Ritchie are better than bottom 6 players. Especially Kerfoot.

The Islanders are spending $7M on their 4th line with term and Tampa's third line last year made some pretty decent coin.

Unless you have guys on ELC's and prove it deals, good depth is pretty costly these days.

Hertl + Eklund for Marner + Abramov. Contingent on Hertl obviously Resigning 8 x 8.

Bunting Matthews Nylander
Mik Tavares Hertl
Kerfoot Kampf Kase
Eklund Spezza Ritchie
Simmonds

Reilly Brodie
Muzzin Liljegren
Sandin Dermott
Holl

Campbell
Mrazak
We still retain our first plus we gain 4 mill in cap for this season, and when hertls deal kicks in we still have an extra 2.9 to go to Riellys new aav. We also get Eklund to add to our prospects moving forward.

I mean I'd do that. Doubt SJ would part with Eklund though even if it means getting Marner.

well, kerf and ritchie average $3m each.

a "good team" with "good cap managemnt" just had $3m Komarov clear waivers.
Just curious, did someone here really think Islanders is a good cap management team?

They signed 2 defensemen for Parayko money, so the combined 2 million in savings outweighs having Komarov, Clutterbuck, Cizikas, Beauvillier, and Palmieri making a combined 17 million dollars.

Is that a list of elite playoff performers or a list of players that got out-scored by a 41 year old Jason Spezza last season, you decide.

Well, Spezza also outscored Marner and AM combined last playoffs with his 3 goals.
Honestly, I really don't understand why people are still comparing Lou with Dubas.
To me both Lou and Dubas failed as Leafs GM b/c their Leafs still could not win the Cup or a round in the playoffs. The only diff is Dubas can change that bc he is the current GM. All he needs to do is lead the Leafs to win a round and he is already a better Leafs GM than anyone after Quinn. If Dubas Leafs makes it to the Conf Finals, he is right there with Quinn and Fletcher, if his Leafs win the Cup, he is one of the best GM in Leafs history.
As for Cap management, who cares as long as the team WIN. Dubas can literally trade the farm away and AM for nothing if the results is a CUP.

I would much rather overpay my star players a bit than overpay my role players.

A million overpaid is insignificant when the player plays 23 minutes a night, but a huge detriment when a player plays 12 minutes
