THIS. Look I love Matty but look at what mcdvaid and Makar and shesty did. They took the team on their back and delivered a series win. Matty hasn't done that and that's not good enough. He was excellent first half of the series and then just playing good isn't enough for a Hart trophy ,11m player. You have to deliver.
Wr have 3 of them and none of them deliver..specifically game 6s and 7s.

Good thing Comrie is a UFA then

If we are going cheap, he should be priority number one. Not a large enough sample size to get any kind of big money. May even get a Bunting contract.

If the Leafs are serious about giving Woll/Kallgren a shot, then that is the best move. Otherwise, Lankinen should not get more than a fully buried contract and is still fairly young himself. He had a nice run with Chicago last year, but has not been good for much of his recent stretch of games.

Otherwise, you have vets like Jones, Greiss, and Halak. None are overly amazing, but they should come for a cheap one year deal and should be better than the young guys we currently have. As a stop gap for one more year of development, that is a low risk, medium-reward type move we can make.

Holtby is the most attractive "backup" option out there, but also likely the priciest (you are likely not saving too much between Mrazek and him). He'd fit more if we went after Blackwood/Samsonov.
I dont know much about him anymore but as pointed out he just hit Post 900% just recently so I think he should be signed for the backup position, and give him the flexibility to go for the starter while we "find" or "cook" our goalie prospects or signings.

2m RD, I'd keep him around. Don't see RDs that cheap these days...look at Ceci.
I do give Holl crap but he does work, there is no denying it and when injuries fell to us, he did come in clutch.

What forwards do you guys think we're gonna target in Free Agency now? Outside of 4th liners.

We have a decent amount of cap-space

If Campbell was what they wanted you'd think it would be done. They're going after someone else forsure.

I think Husso on a longer term for lower cap hit... not saying its what I would of preferred but maybe what they're thinking.

What do you prefer?

Before Fleury signed I thought him and trade for blackwood or something... now no idea. Options have dwindled. Could make a trade though. How about hellebuyck. Pipe dream.
I dunno if they are ready to go scorched earth yet....right? I mean would be great to have him but I doubt it.

I'd like to bring Phil back. Feels so empty without his salary on our books for the first time in about a decade.

I also wouldn't mind Nino as a discount Mickey replacement.
He can rub it in simmons face about his cup full of hotdogs while at it.

This right here is why I think they are going to go after someone experienced that can play 60ish games. Be awful risky to run a unknown as your backup and make them play 30~ games.

Oof.
I don’t see anyone available that would make 20-30 games of Woll/kallgren tolerable.

I like what Ferraro said on overdrive this week. If you can’t have one of the elite guys then pay less for average.

Giving Kuemper 6 million would be a mistake.

Options are dwindling. Maybe Dubas can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

He took a stick to the eye in the St Louis series and it still affected him in the Edmonton series. Freak injury, I think he's over it by now. But he's injury prone in general.
Getting a stick to the eye has no connection to being injury prone, at least. Like you said, it's a freak injury. My fear is that Colorado knows there is permanent damage.

How much do you guys think Blackwood would cost? I really want him as our backup next season, just oozing with potential, if he can put it all together BOOM we have our future #1 starter. I'd love to get him.

As for the other goalie I like Campbell and do not blame him for us losing, Campbell and Blackwood would be my happy offseason, I'd at least like one or the other going forward but this is just my personal opinion.

The entire Dubas quote wasn't posted here. After he talked about Mrazek trade opening up cap space for FA, or Campbell or trade, he also added "we'll see how tomorrow goes relative to trade"
Maybe has something up for tomorrow?

honestly the more I think about it...the ducks and leafs have a history of constantly trading one another i wonder if there is something there lmao
Sandin + 38 + something? (B prospect? Abruzzese/Someone not niemela Robertson knies) for Gibson + comtois.

If Holls going somewhere, could be tomorrow morning. The Leafs (if they want to move him) likely want him gone before free agency starts.

A player I think we can go for maybe is Andreas Anthansiou? Reese ?

I know people would love to get Marchmant but i think that'll depend on our prio on goalie first.

I think if we are making a trade for Gibson we are gonna have to move both Sandin and Robertson IMO I dont see it not being a starter otherwise but I hope that's never the case ofc

Definitely feels like a trade is in the horizon....I love it when draft starts because well FA is soon but trades begin

As of right now, they have 10.42m in cap space with 17 on the roster including abruzzese (850k) Simmonds (900k) Clifford (762k) and kallgren (750k) which are placeholder caps for the back up goalie and the 4th line, so when you replace them you only lose the difference between them and their substitute. Actually quite a decent chunk of space.
If you replace Clifford and Simmonds with guys making 1-1.5m you’re eating 1m or so of that space, I’m sure they’re pencilling in a marlie to earn a role, or have a camp invite guy making 850 or so. So after replacing the three placeholder forwards to bolster the 4th line you’re left with 9ish to get a goalie tandem or a starter and ride a rookie & a middle 6 upgrade.
That’s without looking at guys like kerfoot and Holl who likely add early/mid 2nds or late 2nds plus something later on I would guess.

I think it'd be hard to replace Kerfoot because he's like the prime example of a swiss army knife that literally fits everywhere in the lineup unless we find someone that can replace him. I was his biggest critic when we got him because I saw him quite a bit in the Avs line up but he proved me wrong...until the last few games in the playoffs but that is something else...

I think we are going to be looking for Bunting style via trade likely, that are either buried or not given the chance just yet and could use the type of help in a new place/fresh start. Ideally, we'd want a gritty playmaking winger that'd also give a bit of a Jolt to JT if need be when he goes asleep at times. However it'd be damn hard to get and find.

I too Stan me some kerf, but I’m also being realistic and thinking if they’re looking at making a significant change to how the middle 6 looks without making more room.
I wouldn’t be bothered either way with kerfoot if he came back or was traded tbh. I see both sides of the coin and see how both paths can mould a really solid forward group
