Considering how few players they have signed paired with their strange arena situation, they're almost certainly going to have to make trades for guys with term.

They are tanking/rebuilding while their arena is being built. They'd probably take Mrazek if we threw in our 1st.

I heard all of that but guys retire in their late 30s in hockey. Hopefully with some luck you have a long life after and you have plenty of time to have fun with your family etc.

So I just don't get at that stage why you would sign anywhere but with a winning team for a couple years to go for it.

Does he have a family and young kids?

Kids don't put their life on hold for you.

Career earnings $78mm

So let's say the Sens do move their 7th. overall for a good player.
Then spend to the cap, they could add some good pieces.

Maybe, he sees that even when you're on one of the best teams in the league (Panthers 2021-2022) it doesn't mean squat as far as winning the Cup goes.

I agree an unlikely location, but maybe he's putting family first?

At the moment it looks like it will be a challenge for Arizona to reach the cap floor. They're either going to have to take on a number of bad contracts or make absurd overpayments in free agency.

I'd just buy Mrazek out if that's their ask.

It would make a lot more sense for them to go all out for Tkachuk (if he is available) instead of paying for Anderson and Dvorak. Neither of those guys are core pieces for a competitive team... Plus they are both overpaid for what they bring to the table.

can you imagine the Tkachuk brothers on the same team....with the younger being the captain lol

Agreed. Mrazek’s cost to dump should be based on his buyout cost, not his remaining salary. If a team chooses to take him from us and not buy him out, that would be indication they have use for him, which means he’s not a pure dump at that point

Makes more sense than getting Anderson and Dvorak.

I'd be more scared of whoever they get at 7, and it would certainly bail out MTL.

Yeah, crossed my mind about bringing the brothers together.

Not sure what they have to land Tkachuk though?

7th. OA isn't nearly enough.

Feels sometimes like Anderson only scores against us

Sounds like the Leafs are just going to keep Mrazek unless we get a proper offer for him.

I am good with that, considering the more expensive goalies worth chasing seem to be non-UFA's.

We cant do anything but hunt from the bargain bin. Posters on here thinking we can giroux or tarasenko for peanuts. We have no money. We have a gm who cant make a bold move like other good gms. We have 20 goal scorers we can’t afford to pay so we lose them because they wont take half the salary that we can afford. Everyone on here that really knows hockey realizes with this flat cap we cant afford the top four. Yes we got 115 points in the regular season but what we are doing is not sustainable. Other teams in our division will be better next year. Our gm is now digging his foot in with sandin a goid young dman that is homegrown and up until his injury was touted as a sho in for top 4. Its sad to think our team needs a bottom six of all making between 750k to 1.5 million. One of marner tavares or nylander has to go. Last year during the season marner and matthews carried our team. Nylander and tavares disappeared for way to many games. People crapping on mikeyev because he wants to be paid. He is just ss good or better than kerfoot. I dont know what dubas has in mind but we cant keep bargain hunting. We are only one major injury to matthews and marner to miss the playoffs.

Yes two boys.

3 of our best players outside of Marner and Matthews were bargain hunts.

Campbell was a cheap backup that he acquired and transformed into a 1G. Bunting, Kampf and Kase were great, Mikheyev himself was a bargain bin free wallet.

Matthews, Marner and Nylander were homegrown talent who the GM kept around, not sure why Sandin is different other than being objectively worse.

He signed Gio to a bargain bin contract.

The Bargain bin hunting isn’t the problem. Especially when players will ask for more if there is more money available. Does Gio take 800k if the Leafs are flushed with cap? Probably not.

Other good GMs don’t fill their bottom 6 with players between 750k-1.5? Tampa paid less for their bottom 6 this season than the Leafs.

Not to say being tight to the cap is a good problem, obviously it would be helpful to have some wiggle room. But I think the bargain bin “problem” is overstated.

Fair enough. I've been on both sides of the coin though.

I'm going to guess most guys in here haven't sacrificed their own career to be at home with their kids. I have.

If the guy has made 78 million dollars I don't think anywhere he plays will be a problem to have family time. Or all the privileges his kids will have forever due to that money.

Where as some one like me had to do it out of necessity to make ends meet.

Off topic but I have a different perspective on it but to each their own.

Total silence code with Lou regime was a bit over the top but on the flip side this current management group talk wayyy too much.

Lots of words and no substance, come off more as politicians.
