The scoring depth, for me, was always a question mark this season when you have Kampf as your third line centre (ironic considering he did score in the playoffs).

They need to find a way to get more physical AND more offense .. not sure what that looks like.

I thought Dubas made a real nice add in Blackwell, not a centre but solid 4th line guy.

Palat is a nice 2-way player as well that I have liked quite a while, if you can do something like 5-6M for 2-3 years, not bad, unless Tampa deals Killorn, I don't see how they bring back Palat.

Nick Paul is another guy that could help the bottom 6.

Bunting-Matthews-88
Palat-JT-Marner - Palat and Marner are good enough defensively to help JT
Paul-Kampf-Engvall
X-Tierney?-Blackwell/Gagner

Missing a physical element or someone who will help stand up for teammates. I still prefer to see about trading 88 for NJD for 2nd overall and Blackwood, sign Reilly Smith...5-5.5M for 2 years ideally, productive in the playoffs and Blackwood's decent cap hit allows to alter the D

Rielly-Brodie
Sandin Roy (Muzzin for Roy?)
Giordano-Liljgren
Dahlstrom(?)

Blackwood
vet back up (would love Holtby, a tandem at 4.8-5M is good)

I think some team will overpay Paul to have him in their top 6. Likely a lower end team.

Nylander is not getting traded. Dubas has guaranteed that.
Matthews and marner carried us last year when Tavares and nylander disappeared
Muzzin has a ntc he isn’t going anywhere
No guarantee that knies joins us next year.

Holl gone
KERFOOT gone
Mikheyev gone
Campbell gone
Mrazek gone

Engval resigned
Sanding resigned. May be traded if asking for too much
Lillegren resigned
Dubas will live or die with the core four

Sandin has no artbitration rights, gonna be pretty anti-climactic.

None of those really look irreplaceable, especially with the prospects we have coming up.

I kind of see him making the rounds as one of those valuable playoff type players now that he's building a reputation. Think guys like Carl Hagelin, Barclay Goodrow, J-G Pageau, etc.

I'm hoping Muzzin goes back to LA for either Matt Roy & 2nd or switch Roy with Clarke. I also think the team won't have to add to get rid of Mrazek

Lehner for Mrazek straight up. Vegas in a cap crunch but they could sign Fleury to a team-friendly deal and get back the goalie they should have never let go.

They don’t necessarily need more scoring from the depth, but they definitely need a different kind of creating offence. They need some more simplistic meat and potatoes kind of players who are going to dump, chase, cycle, bang, crash, and drive the net.

You think fleury is going to sign a team friendly deal with a team that just shit in his face and booted him out of town?

This Matt Murray angle is quite unappealing.

I wonder if Trent Frederic would be a good 4th line option if the Bruins are cleaning house. He’s got a real dirt bag steak to his game.

Some fantastic tidbits from the real Kyper and Bourne show today from Kypreos

- Leafs have been talking to the Lyubushkin camp, looking to sign extension
- The feeling coming out of the exit meeting with Sandin was dissapointment. The Leafs didn't love his season, they expected more in terms of development.
- Leafs are targeting Nic Deslauries in the offseason, would like to sign him between 1.2-1.4 million

Lyubushkin is pretty much the perfect #6-7 as long as it's around what he made this past season.

I think Deslauriers is fine but not sure if he's better than Simmonds. For 1.2-1.4M, Leafs can do better. He'll give you plenty of face punching but nothing else. He's a tough guy though and he isn't incompetent.

Sandin is great on the bottom pairing but he's entering Dermott levels of not being able to play up in the lineup. Leafs need to find a way to give him minutes on the left and Sandin needs to find a way to stay healthy.

What the f***?

CJ did say it was purely based on the Soo connection and nothing else though. There's no way this is an actual rumour.

If the Sens buy him out, I'm sure the Leafs will look at giving him a 3rd stringer job and a shot at the back-up role.

Trent Frederick is garbage. Not to mention a terrible fighter. He only got a reputation as some badass because he wears a Bruins jersey. Dude was scratched in the playoffs for a reason. Bruins fans dont even like him

Zach-Aston Reese, Katchouk, etc...are players who are gonna be on the Free agent market who are far better in both the agitation game and more offensive upside

ZAR will be a player the Leafs look at. He's a good 4th liner. It just depends on the cap hit.

Katchouk is a RFA.

I'm one of the biggest Advocates for Toughness on this team, but I just dont see the appeal in signing Deslauriers.

He's a really good fighter sure, but he brings little to nothing else. It's almost a 100% guarantee he's get scratched in the playoffs. Tough guys who can do little else are not a good fit in Keefe's system. See Simmonds and Clifford.

For gods sakes, get some players who are for sure mainstays. I'm tired of doing a rotation every playoff where we're gonna bring in some small cream puff to replace our 4th line guys

Yeah agreed. Katchouk is gonna be hard to get but I have to think Dubas will try since there is a Soo-hoo connection.

Other players to Look at besides ZAR and Katchouk

Curtis Lazar (Led Bruins in hits this season)
Miles Wood (If Unqualified)
Tyler Motte
Noel Acciari
Michael Raffl
Carter Rowney

Trade Targets:
William Carrier
Kevin Rooney

I think Rowney is very underrated. He'd be a great target. He's just been injured a lot last 2 seasons, so we'll see.

Raffl also impressed me a lot with Dallas.

Ya Raffl was great. I wanted him last time he was UFA. He’s getting older though so not sure what kind of deal he would want.

You would think leafs could use their wealth and farm team being in same city to appeal to more of these 4th line types to give them longer guaranteed money and can always bury them on the marlins.

Some of these guys may work if we are going for a shutdown line, but I feel like the 4th line should be guys who can provide depth scoring. These guys are not providing depth scoring.

We have to see who fits our cap structure and can do that, but fortunately we have some guys like Robertson, Abruzzese, Steeves, Holmberg, and Anderson who could bring that for cheap.

On top of that, I feel guys like Tierney and Namestnikov are the kinds of guys we will target. Maybe Zach Sanford if we feel like his skating could work, or even a Victor Rask.

Then there are some non-tendered RFA's. Kunin may be too pricey for the 4th line (if he is non-tendered), but I think he could work on the 2nd line with Tavares and Nylander. Maybe Adam Gaudette gets non-tendered by OTT, and he would be a nice competitor for a 4th line spot.

I think the main thing is that we want guys who have shown their offensive potential and maybe have struggled recently, but are hungry to make the most out of an opportunity, even if it is somewhat limited. If they can provide a bit of two-way value on top of it, then even better.

Of course, a guy like Aston-Reese could be brought in for the Kampf line and then Kase moves to the 4th line, so we should still look at shutdown guys as well.

I mean, I don't think he's a grunt but I see Knies joining us by the end of the year, he's gonna get into the top 6, 9 at worst. I feel like his game translates pretty well as a JT partner.
It's actually more suited for Nylander/Matthews/Marner. Rush/transition guy with strong cycle skills and finishing ability. His passing is the weakest part of his game.

Don't love any of this
1. Let's sign the worst defenseman on the team down the stretch and playoffs.
2. Yep, getting injured sure was Sandins fault
3. Isn't Simmonds already a bad 12th F, pump up grinder that can barely play hockey?

None of this seems remotely logical, not shocked it's Kyper/Bourne.
