The Wranglers have signed an interesting player to a PTO: the pride of Camrose, Alberta, 25 year old, 6’0”, 185 lb Kyler Kupka.

The left-shot center has been on a hot streak, tallying 27 points in his last 21 games; he has 26 goals and 51 points in 49 games this season with the South Carolina Stingrays, and was just named ECHL Player of the Week.

Wranglers get slapped around 4-1 in Coachella Valley to start their road trip after losing both b2b games at home to the Reign in OT last weekend. Cooley was good, they just got dominated structurally, outshot badly after the 1st which ended tied after Frk put in his own rebound. Forwards weren't good, defense other than Aspirot and maybe Kuznetsov were poor in coverage and struggled to make it into the OZ. Jurmo is hopeless, would be very surprised if he ever suits up in a NHL game.

Honzek probably our most noticeable forward, carried the puck well but sometimes should just fire a high hard one in there rather than try to beat a 2nd or 3rd guy. Morton was alright, lots of other guys got swallowed up. Firebirds are a team with a lot of guys that have tons of NHL games, they have our number.

With how much movement and turmoil with the coaches even the club has gone through and also considering they've put up a nice comfortable pt total so far not super surprised to see the team hit the skids a bit. Definitely missed Solo and Hunt.

I haven’t watched nearly as much Wranglers hockey as I did last year, so appreciate the intel on Jurmo.

LMAO @ 4 shots in 40 mins.
Expected decline when you replace Pelts, Duehr, Klapka, Hunt, Solo with the likes of Davis, Silye, Jannicke, Myly, and Jurmo
I was actually surprised at the start they had this year. They've been .500 since mid Dec

They've now lost 6 straight and Cooley hasn't been particularly solid since returning from injury. 1-3-4, 3.20 GAA, .889 SV%

Another great weekend from Arseni Sergeev. Penn State played the #1 ranked Michigan State and went 1-0-1 in the 2 games. Sergeev stopped 78 of 82 shots against. 9-1-3 record in his last 13 starts.
I’ve been stat watching him since he was drafted. Could be another late round goalie pick steal.

Zarubin not exactly having a terrible year for the Tula Mikhailov J-20 either stats-wise (2.38, .933), though his record accounts for 8 of the team’s 15 losses and only 8 of their 27 wins.

Wranglers lose 4-0 in San Diego to the Gulls, who finally break the Calgary win streak in their arena. Despite what the score says the Wranglers actually played pretty well. Husso was making his debut for SD and while I wouldn't say he stood on his head or anything he had a real good game. Calgary started strong and then had a shit 2nd period. Honzek did not play out with a LBI

Stromgren was noticeable, really strong on his skates and had some quick bursts. Liking this player more and more every time I watch him, he's got NHL tools for sure. Morton had some nice rushes and NZ breakups but a little quiet. Kerins was shooting but didn't get inside much and struggled on the boards. Kuznetsov our best defenseman, he was playing with Barrie. Cooley wants the 3rd GA back but otherwise was quality, the 4th goal was an EN that Frk basically put in his own net.

feel like I don't even know half these players anymore, after seeing some AHL moves this week wonder if Brad Pascal has his a mind for adding to the roster for a Calder Cup run. Not getting enough from guys like Bell and Ciona.

Wranglers are really completely off the rails at this point. Have just now given up a 7 goal against 2nd period to the Firebirds at home. Have 1 win in their last 10. The drizzling shittiest of shits. Had no idea that they would miss Solovyov this much. Or maybe Trent Cull is just the man, maybe he is him.

Can't exactly point to one thing either. The goalies suck, the defense sucks out loud and in color, and the forwards suck as well. Somehow still a top 10 in the AHL but not for much longer if they don't remove their heads from their ass.

Ignatjew is really not very good. He had a few good games to start the year (don't remember if it was 3 or 4... but since he's been the drizzling shits, I swear he's only had 3 or 4 more good games all year.

That is a good call on Cull too, I never considered that and it really lines up IMO. He came up to Calgary on Dec 22 and since then the Wranglers are 10-12-5 and have given up 111 goals in those 27 games.

I really think we see some changes with the Wranglers next season, due to guys being allowed to walk. I can't see why they would qualify Ignatjew and as I said in another, I wouldn't be shocked if Poirier didn't get a QO (I'd give him one personally). For pending UFAs, I have to think Barrie, Tinordi, Aspirot and Frk will all be gone... Bishop and Hunt I hope to see them return.

Parker Bell and Joni Jurmo still have contracts for next year, but I would fire them into the sun if I could.

Ofcourse Cull plays a big part - but come on....we've replaced top AHL guys with barely AHL guys.
No kidding they've struggled.

I agree on Ignatiew - I had hoped for more
I agree on Poirier, I think we include him as a bit of sweetner in a deal. But he's kinda redundant right now.
Bell is the kind of depth guy you need, I'd keep him around.
Next year Stromgren, Honzek, Ciona, and maybe Bruzt will all take a big step. Add in Basha and Morin and we still have things to look forward to.

I didn't realize Basha was a late birthday. That'll definitely be interesting.
Also, fair point on Bell.

Next year, I'd like to see them try Honzek at center, especially with Kerins becoming waiver eligible.... and our forward prospect group for the Wranglers looks absolutely baren. Maybe we can convert Poirier to forward
