If rumours are true that the Leafs have interest in Justin Braun as a possible option if the ask for Gio doesn't come down....I hope we get them to throw in MacEwen. Shouldn't take much to get either and will make us a tougher team.

We still have to get a Motte type player, an upgrade on the wing, and a goalie. This might not be our year. Too much work to be done and I don’t think Dubas is our guy. Starting to think Shanahan might not be either.

Yes, they have the wrong something in place. I don't really care that their 1st. half season carried them to 6th., whoops 7th. in the league. (Point%)

Goaltending has been brutal, that is on goaltenders which are on Dubas.
Defensively they are middle of the pack, that's on players and coaches which are on Dubas.
Dubas is on Shannahan.

But really I don't think we're talking major overhaul, however we might be talking a major player.

Giordano I don't think is, currently, a major player but he probably would help.
If they're bidding against other teams then probably forgo the acquisition, if Giodano agrees only to Leafs ...

I’m setting low expectations for what leafs will be doing tomorrow. Team is not good enough to contend, but not terrible enough to sell, but we have our stars in their primes.

There’s not much they can do at deadline to significantly improve the team.

The way this team is built around 4 core forwards is fundamentally flawed (flat cap doesn’t help) … major change in off season needs to happen to tweak this team.

26 points in 40 KHL games as a 20 year old this year. Solid 2-way player too.

Between him and Declan Carlile, they have done a decent job adding free talent to their pool.

Zacha would fit in like Kerfoot does now. He could play up and down the lineup to plug holes as needed, but bring more size and scoring with less speed and defense.

Am I crazy for wanting a major shake-up? I'm talking a deal based around Nylander for JT Miller level shake-up. I just don't see this group having anything more than a first round exit with this core. It's a hill KD shouldn't be willing to die on.

I would be on board with something like this.

This might sound crazy BUT how would y'all feel about this...

To Calgary - JT, Dermott.

To Toronto - Monohan, Zadarov.

JTs contract is an absolute albatross. I do like him as a player but he doesn't mesh well with Willy and it seems Mitch will forever be Mattys winger. Dermott needs a change and is going to get it (probably within the next 24hrs).

Monohan is 4yrs younger and has shown he probably isn't a #1C but can play with talented players and is a responsible 2-way guy. Would slot in well behind AM34 and I think could be a fit for Billy Nye. Nadarov is a defensive and nasty dman who can play either side and balances the books financially between the teams to facilitate a trade.

Maybe some picks going back either way to balance things out.

Yes I know JT had a NMC but I think he MAY be willing to wave as he seems like a Sutter kinda player. He did very well under Babs.

I know this isn't going to happen but have fun with it. Wuddya think?
