Apparently Leafs won’t be able to compete that’s why Dubas is sitting on his hands. Maybe it is a right thing to do.

I do think Motte would be a solid upgrade in terms of adding speed/tenacity on the bottom lines.

I can't say I'm overly hyped about this. I think though that the Leafs should be focusing on bigger/stronger forward types (Im the one saying this).

Motte would be good for the 4th line considering who the Leafs are using right now.

Stop gap of what? He's not very good. He would have taken all our available cap space and he's much worse than Dermott.

I think if we were shopping for a Luke Schenn or needed another Lyubushkin type big body to get in the way, Hagg would be similar type add, but he did originally come with more offensive upside from his Philly days. His $1.6 million is basically the same as Dermott's.

He would be. What I'm saying is that I think the Leafs probably need to target heavier players, or at least a longer/better track record. Motte has had a good season but we have a lot of similar players like him (aka fast and energetic, but small).

Feels like Motte would just get us back to having a healthy Kase.

If the Predators game was a harbinger for a playoff worst case scenario, it's the Big Guns that have to break through and they have to play a better team defense under heavy forecheck. I don't see any overpay between today and tomorrow that will address those issues if the solution doesn't come internally.

This might make more sense if Kase is injured long-term. Motte would replace Kase' role/style very well.

I am curious about Tanner Pearson. We’ve been linked to him as well.

Dermott for Motte makes sense. Just curious if Dubas tries to get Pearson. Maybe Dermott, Kerfoot and ? For Motte and Pearson

Can you acquire f***s to give at the TDL? Because that's what this team needs more than some scrub like Tyler Motte or Middleton or Braun. None of those guys will move the needle at all. Too many times this team doesn't start on time, even in the playoffs. Last night was another example that even Keefe admitted. They haven't really changed in that regard. Same with the physicality.

I was pushing for Fleury as I think goaltending can maybe fluke this team to a series win and see if that gives them confidence but don't think this group deserves any help. Just let them deal with their issues and til the inevitable outcome in the first round occurs.

Pearson was my guy at last years trade deadline before Vancouver re-signed him.

From 32 Thoughts, The Podcast: "Provorov's name is out there a little bit. I'm not sure it will be now. They're at a crossroads with Provorov and he's at a crossroads with them."
What would he cost? Could play with Muzzin if he returns?

Honestly that is what this team might actually need. Someone who can light a fire under others ass’.

100% agree.

The Leafs have too much of the same when it comes to personality types. It wouldn't hurt them to get someone that is prickly, physical, and a bit controversial.

Not sure if it has to be Bertuzzi, but the team as a whole is lacking that type of energy.

Provorov is LHD. He also makes $6.75 million till 2025. I would say if you bring him in, he would be a long term Muzzin replacement and a possible cornerstone piece. Questions are, why has he stalled out in development, is he worth it, what would it cost? Is it a futures package? (Doable depending on cost, but Chychrun is out there too) Nylander? (Feel free to debate).

So where does the 6.75 cap space come from for Provorov?

He'd be a great add, the subtract is the question?

Rielly and Provorov for the next 3 years following this one.

Can he play RD?

Kerfoot being on the 4th line also makes no sense. Either he's on the top 9 or he should be traded. If Dubas was really turning down calls for Mikheyev and Engvall....is Kerfoot guaranteed to stay? I guess if Kerfoot does stay, Spezza might be out.

Motte - Kerfoot - Simmonds

4th line. Not the worst.

If this managment team traded two firsts and two 2nd round prospects for a third liner then back filled with an undrafted KHL free wallet everyone here leaf fan or not would ridicule them for it.
Unless they'd won back to back cups. Then we'd be trolling the shit out of every thread on this site.
