If we're sniffing around ANA for a playoff mercenary, how perfectly would Rakell fit beside JT and Nylander? I've wanted him here for 3 years.

Sounds like the term is the problem, not the money. They are probably trying to get him for 3 or so years and he wants 6+ years.

5 to 6M seems perfectly reasonable for him. That's Muzzin and Brodie level money.

You might be right. I still think 5-6 might be light.

To Toronto-
Chychrun
Crouse

To Arizona-
Nylander
Dermott

Then,

To Toronto-
Miller
Schenn

To Vancouver-
Kerfoot
Liljegren
Robertson
1st Round Pick

Bunting-Matthews-Miller
Crouse-Tavares-Marner
Mikheyev-Kampf-Engvall
Knies-Spezza-Kase

Rielly-Brodie
Chychrun-Lyubushkin
Muzzin-Sandin
Schenn-Holl

Team is still stacked with skill and speed but definitely adds some size and grit, but players who can actually play.

In fantasy land, those are decent trades. In reality, there is no chance that we would do that much turnover, and I don't think Vancouver is selling Miller anymore.

I've been interested in him too but looks like his production has fallen off a bit in the last two seasons. I don't imagine he would be cheap to acquire either.

Boooooring.

Let’s see some trades

I think Sunday is our day. I could see a minor deal today though.

Dubas typically doesn't do big trades on game days (most teams don't).

EDIT: We don't play until next Wednesday after tomorrows game so...

Contract wise, he's much better value, and with proper coaching, and guidance, probably ends up just as good, or better. He's got room to grow.

That being said, the cost to acquire will be miles different I think. Coyotes are looking at a very premium return, probably 1st, a NHL player, and top prospect. You are looking at 1st, Sandin, Robertson I'd think. Lindholm acquisition isn't near that... I don't know how you discount that.

One is a rental and one has cost certainty. Yup the Yotes are looking for a king's ransom for Chychrun. They need to soften some when it comes to their ask. They asked for a package starting with Knight or Lundell from the Panthers and they moved to and overpaid Chiarot instead.

Yup - usually the night before the trade deadline is when a bunch of deals go down. Chris Johnston mentioned the same thing on his podcast recently. He expects Sunday afternoon/evening to be busy.

If chara can be had for cheap, I'm on board. Just need him for net front and crosscheck a few people. 7th d. Depending how a series goes

Hard to believe Ducks have not resigned Lindholm if $5mx8 is in his ballpark.
I have no information on what his ask was of the Ducks but $6-$6.5M was the team friendly deal Parayko gave. The better RFAs are getting $6+. One side may have been in that range.
I was thinking that his cost to acquire would drop like a stone as the deadline hits. Alternatively they could have a number he will resign for that they just can't quite stomach yet but if nobody pays their optimistic price he gets re-upped right away. He is an interesting player whose stock has been a bit up and down. like Fowler's. I know he has been looked on as a top pair talent in the past and I think that will drive his price up with some teams. I just don't know what he brings on another club. I know the Leafs can't afford him without some major subtractions and I don't know that Kyle will have the option of another long term salary commitment. I don't see TO as players for him unless the ask falls close to Manson than Chairot because he is a rental to them.

I wish...

Tyler Kleven for Roni Hirvonen and Topi Neimela.

Sometimes it appears to work.
While potentially very nice pieces for us and I'm high on both...Gibson has been an All Star at least 3 times (could be more but I remember 3) at a premium position. A long term position of weakness in the organization. This one hurt.

Nobody would complain if Leaf lost a bad game after going 6-1 in past 7. Leaf had to suck for 2+ months in combination with bad games to finally get people to crack and start be upset and make new season plans. Even goalies were spared in very beginning of it.

Some of you very clueless to what is actually going on, only some, not a lot.

What’s funny about this

Panthers record since Jan 1: 20-7-2 (0.72 P%)
Leafs record since Jan 1: 19-9-3 (0.66 P%)

Panthers record since Feb 1: 9-5-1 (0.63 P%)
Leafs record since Feb 1: 11-7-2 (0.6 P%)

With the way people around here have been talking, you’d think we’d be free falling. Florida has been fantastic, but the Leafs have been more or less keeping pace despite leagues worst goaltending. But ya, some of us are very clueless.
