I suggested Comtois but Appleton is a good one as well.
Isn't Camtois like half broken ? He has had a lot injuries this year including hand

It doesn't feel like the Leafs are involved here... Just a gut feeling. We would have been linked by now.
And Marleau had a 35+ contract. Even if Dubas tried to hold firm there was no cap relief coming. That is part of what made him so expensive to trade. Carolina had to buy him out but still had to have his whole cap hit after. That’s what I meant by higher up, my mistake no they couldn’t of kept him he packed up and went home demanding a trade.
I wouldnt want to know what the story around here would be if Dubas held firm screwing over a vet like marleau. Not to mention the impact it might’ve had on attracting other vets.

Im fine with Giordano....but like others have said I'm not giving up a 1st.
Sam Carrick is another low key 4th line forward i think would be a great get. There are reports that the leafs want to improve their 4th line
a second is well worth it IMONo way we give up first for Gio. Not even 2nd
He doesn't bring anything that we need to give up a first or 2nd
That's not a fact. You haven't provided any evidence of that. These stats no longer hold their predictive power in the playoffs. That's a fact.
You're gaining information about a team's quality. What information are you gaining?
For the record, since xGF% started being tracked, the best xGF% team has won more cups than the best team in the standings.Yeah, obviously the 6th or 8th best ranked xGF team in regular season won the cup.
Which one are you? You still haven't said.Which one you choosing as a predictor?
my mcbain dream is ruined...
It feels like the Leafs will add a D and then move Dermott for maybe an equivalent forward or maybe a pick. This would scratch both the D and the F they want to add.
Clutterbuck, Bastian, Michael McLeod, Appleton, Motte all decent options I think; Motte's asking price obviously too high though. There are reports that the leafs want to improve their 4th line
I hope so...a free wallet with good money is nice to have.Dredge has no credibility with me. Of course he plugs the Habs being the most interested.
Key thing here is he won’t be traded unless he’s interested in extending wherever he goes.
If he’s a Toronto boy this will be where he wants to go, and he would have an immediate opportunity to plug into the lineup on a top team. Can’t say the same for th sHabs……

If Marleau didn't report to camp he'd be suspended. He could retire, or play. He's a big boy who made a decision, no need to capitulate to his demands if it hurts the team. Mikheyev wanted a trade and Dubas said no, life goes on. Plus, Marleau was willing to be away from his family in Toronto for the playoff bubble anyhow.
Yes, and we'd have to trade away Kapanen and Johnsson a year earlier to accommodate that cap hit. But he wouldn't have retired because he wanted the games played record and he was willing to be away from his family in the Toronto playoff bubble later that season anyhow. If Marleau retired we'd be on the hook for his entire cap hit.

Sweet Lou really did leave a grenade in the room when he left. The other problem was that his signing bonus was scheduled after the deadline to buy him out so we couldn't even eat that up front cost to lessen the blow.

So if he wouldn’t retire but wouldn’t play here we be forced to trade him then? He made it clear he wasn’t playing for us after the season and the team had no excuse or reason to waste 6.25 in cap space in a year they were planning on going for it.Yes, and we'd have to trade away Kapanen and Johnsson a year earlier to accommodate that cap hit.
