Better not be, or Dubas should get his suitcases from out of the closet. The time for patience in “the process”, is over.

We won’t have this skilled a team for much longer. Go all in and trade for players we need that have term. Physical, gritty players that are built for playoff hockey. Just my opinion.
We don’t need physical gritty players we would be in the box all night.we can beat them with our power play.
Let’s add some more soft skilled players.

I’m actually not high on adding Giordano anyway tbh. His skating has really declined and I think we could do a lot better for cheaper

Yeah I get the steady vet experience angle but other than that he doesn't bring anything we don't already have a better version off. Maybe if they're hoping his chemistry with Brodie gives him a boost I could see it, but definitely not the best use for our top deadline assets.

Yeah, I expect our additions will be less splashy than the top guys and more pointed, addressing specific needs.

Thank god we didn't pay that for Chiarot.

Sounds like Middleton is KD's guy.
Yeah we will get thim both. Him and Giordiano. They are going to THUG AND KILL IT OUT in toronto I can assure you sire. Lets see what we send the other, wrong way.

We gotta love life sire. Motte is another thug we'll get. 100% sure.

BTW, the Leafs got a PP and won that game. So yeah, I am laughing if I am Matthews.

I would rather smile at them and win than take stupid penalties and suspensions which have actively cost us series in the past 5 years.
Yeah well the biggest laugh was when we were up 3-1 and they came back and won the next three. Haha that sure was a big laugh. It’s not the penalties or suspension that beat us it’s we don’t have the determination to get to the net. All year we have had problems with teams who play physical with us and box us out and it’s going to be much harder when the refs put their whistles away.

I didn't say they play good defence I said their blueline is good. Defence is F + D + G not just one.

why do you think their numbers are like that then? It even better than Leafs.
I looked into this last week when discussing defence.

Articles in Seattle say they play well defensively but the mistakes they do make are severe. Undo all their nice work by self destructing in short spurts throughout the game. I don't know who "they" are, whether it's the D or the forwards making these costly mistakes.

So I guess you need to go see if Gio/Soucy is part of that "they". I'll leave that for you to do I've had enough kraken research for one lifetime.

Chiarot helps us with that how exactly? Probably less than Foligno, and we know how useless he was with us even when he was healthy.

And if we don't want to lose those games, maybe we need a goalie who doesn't go .890 in his last three games and couldn't make timely saves while the other guy steps up? Something that has killed us in every series?

Probably will help us more than another physicality move when, other than the one physical player we added who is actually a good player (Muzzin), they have all be useless or worse in the playoffs. What did Simmonds do last playoffs? Or Clifford the series before? They were both sub-replacement level and brought no physicality... And if they need other players to be physical just for them to be physical, then they shouldn't be in an NHL lineup when that is all they bring.

We should go after players who make us more competitive. Bad players don't make us more competitive, even when they are physical. Tampa dumped those guys and they won when they replaced them with guys who actually had skill and value far beyond their physicality.

Looks like Gio will cost a lot after that Chariot trade, as will as other lesser rental d-man. Lindholm is the only one I would give big assets to but I'd also want to ensure that he would have strong interest in re-signing.

Can't see Dubas giving him a high price for a rental again .. He may add a goalie though.

IMO I see a quiet deadline overall as I don't see Dubas wanted to pay the price the market dictates.

The market is ludicrous right now. I don't feel that any trades will put the Leafs over the top to make it past the first round. Not with this goaltending. I'd be happier if he stood pat.

At some point they're not going to be able to bank on getting completely unexpected performances out of these player gambles

What are the odds guys like Verhaeghe and Marchment come out of nowhere with their minor league production to do what they're doing in the NHL? Ans then add in Duclair who finally finds his game after joining his 7th NHL team. Plus the big gamble that Sam Bennett would produce up to his draft hype despite not showing that much promise in his first few years in Calgary. Looks great now but the consensus was that they overpaid a bit to get him at the deadline.

Crazy!
