GDT: Trade and Free Agency Thread - 2021/22 PART X

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I think it is fair (not just easy) to place the blame at the feet of your goaltending when your goaltending is the one that deserves the blame. It is easy to blame the defense for everything too, as we have been doing for the past decade +. Except it is not fair to place the blame at the feet of defenders who have been excellent the almost the entire year and pretend like they are the reason why our goaltenders struggle to make routine saves and can't be expected to do anything beyond that.

We clearly not watching the same team. How many uncover player in the slot we saw 2v1 or breakaway. Look carolina or tampa how hard its to create space in their zone, being 1st on rebound, crash the net and screen the goalie. Now look how its easy to do the same exact team against toronto. Its how you win on playoff, winning battle in front of the net offensive and defensive side.

At his cap hit, he just doesn't fit on this team anymore. As much as it sucks to say it, we need a Hyman on that second line and the only player on our roster like that is Bunting. If we could find another player with that style of play for the second line then I believe you see JT and Nylander come back to life.

Im just saying IF Muzzin is out for the remainder of the year and you didn’t even have him in your D pairings you posted, we don’t have to choose. We could have both

I understand what you are saying, yet I think even you'd agree, our team D isn't top five in the league, as xGA etc would suggest...

Maybe at times it would appear that way. What I think is really happening, when we at our best, is we are a strong possession team. When we possess the puck, we don't get scored against. I know, that sounds pretty simple, but when we dominate the game, which can be quite often, it makes our defense look better, and it puts less pressure on our goalies, or D. That's literally our game, keep the puck, to reduce chances for them. When we don't, and the pressure goes on our goalies, and D, we don't look as good...sure, average goaltending would make things much better, and we'd likely have good results, but I don't think that's because we are good defensively, as much as we keep the puck more.

That may get is Chiarot, though not sure we want him. He can't play top-4 minutes and we already have a bottom pairing +1.

And there's no way Zona is letting Crouse walk away for Kerfoot only.

The Avs play by play guy, Marc Moser just randomly brought up a Petry to Toronto trade that hasn't happened. So that was strange.

It was a fake tweet that clearly the Avs play by play didn't even bother looking up to see if it was real.

Biggest needs.

1) We need a long term goalie
2) a physical winger.

Tavares doesn't work with speedy players he needs to play with guys who can cycle the puck. Nylander has worked well with both Robertson and Kerfoot and those 3 all have the speed to player together.


1) 1st + prospect for Comtois (winger with size for Tavares)
2) Mrazek+2nd for Grubauer (Kerfoot kept for the playoffs and moved in the offseason for cap to make it work)

Call up Anderson.

Ok let's be realistic here. He's far from awful. What he is, is being in an absolute awful team who's goalies can't even save a beach ball. Chiarot is what Muzzin was when he first got here, less offense but more defense. Which personally I believe is exactly what this team needs.

Tbh, there is only one player that interests me and that is Hagel.
I think he perfect fit for this team cap wise.
