What? Muzzin was actually a defensive stud when he came over here and had really good underlying stats. He was a legitimate top pairing player for the Kings for a few years before coming to us and didn't show any signs of slowing down. Chiarot as of now is the second worst defenseman on a bottom feeder in terms of controlling scoring chances and expected goals. The Habs are analytically much better without him on the ice than they are with him.Ok let's be realistic here. He's far from awful. What he is, is being in an absolute awful team who's goalies can't even save a beach ball. Chiarot is what Muzzin was when he first got here, less offense but more defense. Which personally I believe is exactly what this team needs.

I want my defensive defensemen to actually be good at defense though. It really doesn't matter that he's big and that he hits because his on-ice results are horrific.I'm not saying Chiarot and Muzzin are the same player. When Muzzin arrived, yes he was a solid top 4 defenseman, hence the cost to acquire him, which btw is much more then what it would take the acquire Chiarot. What I meant regarding Chiarot was, he brings that same defensive element as Muzzin which this team desperately needs more of. Sometime with size and isn't afraid to use it.
Goalies get traded for nothing and Seravelli says top prospects and top draft picks for a couple months of a guy lol
With Keefe giving Rielly different partners in what seems every game now, I'm starting to wonder if maybe he's trying to see who Brodie would fit best with in case he's able to land a partner for Rielly via trade.
If we looking at Chicago, go big:
Fleury
Hagel
Connor Murphy
I’d give up stuff in that package, but not anyone named Knies or Topi.
Im fine parting with picks and Robertson if need be here.
This trade sucks. Actually might be the worst I've seen here in a while. To Chi
Nylander and Mrazek
To Tor
Hagel and Fleury + to even out cap

And why is it so bad. There's cap to consider if you are unaware. Covid has stalled any increase which limits spending to improve. We don't give up futures. Wow me with your insightThis trade sucks. Actually might be the worst I've seen here in a while.
You really should look at this from the other team's view....why would they give up a cost controlled top 6W, top 4D and a starting goalie who's shockingly still very good for not our top 2 prospects but Nick Robertson I guesssssss if I have to + picks. If we looking at Chicago, go big:

Nylander is on the best contract of the big 4, Fleury is a rental who we probably won't be able to afford in the offseason and Hagel by himself doesn't replace Nylander. You're downgrading our top six (the real reason we lost our last 2 playoff series was a lack of scoring) for one playoff run with Fleury when we are probably playing either Tampa or Florida first. It's pretty obvious why your trade sucks dude. And why is it so bad. There's cap to consider if you are unaware. Covid has stalled any increase which limits spending to improve. Which Nylander is going to show up. He's got so much talent when he wants to. Our goaltending is a trending concern. What would you propose to upgrade this team?Nylander is on the best contract of the big 4, Fleury is a rental who we probably won't be able to afford in the offseason and Hagel by himself doesn't replace Nylander. William will be fine once you get the anchor of his line. Also trading the one guy who played great in the playoffs is absolutely asinineAre you confident in our goaltending. Nylander has floated on and off all season. Hagel might bring energy like Bunting does.

Actually, if anything, the last couple of games it seems Willy is the anchor. He looks completely disengaged. The amount of times he's just skated around the perimeter with the puck and either losing it at the blue line or ringing it around the boards when no one is there is the problem. You have to remember, Tavares is a grind it type player and if a teammate has the puck, 99% of the time Tavares is going to be by the net looking for a tip or rebound. When Willy is playing up to his standards, he's aggressive and always looking to shoot at the net or is atleast skating towards it to make a play. But for whatever reason, he hasn't been playing that way at all.
agreed. His fly byes are back.
In theory you trade Nylander because his game simply doesn’t translate to playoff production well.
And yet, the guy had 5 goals in 7 games last playoffs and 8 points?
Why does the trade Nylander chat always come in waves? He's such a big part of this team.
