JT Miller would be fantastic. He’d actually allow Tavares potentially to move to LW.
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - Miller - Nylander
Why do we need to trade a young 2 way D to get a stay at home D?
Is Sandin really a better player though? They're both producing offense at around the same rate while Sandin gets powerplay time. Both are analytics darlings in their role as well.Took 8 years for Anton to become a stud dman though. We're in win-now mode, and are already developing a better prospect in Sandin.
Chemo is often enough used to shrink a brain tumour before surgery even in benign cases. It might not be malignant.he apparently is doing chemo so I’m guessing not. Poor kid
He’d be able to take the face off and then move to LW. Or you can just keep him as a center. Is Tavares still taking all of the faceoffs?

Liljegren is RHD and is a different player then those 2. They aren't fighting for the same spot. They are too similar, you need complementary player to be succeful in a top 4.
Rielly and sandin love to join the rush so they need a kind of stay at home dman and liljegren will never be that type of player
I agree. Even if the offense doesn't develop for him, he can absolutely be a Brodie type for us.IDK if you put them together, but I can see Liljegren replacing what Brodie brings right now.
So Rielly-Liljegren and then Sandin with some kind of solid defensive top 4 RD. Probably a guy who comes externally.
Kokkonen would be great fit on the bottom pairing alongside maybe a guy like Niemela. Kral, Koster, and Villeneuve are also solid options, but I imagine some of those guys will end up in trades at some point if they progress well enough to be attractive.
Those are our only real defensive prospects in the system right now. Rubins is likely nothing more than a good depth guy, which is fine. We need those guys too.
So doesn't that mean we should trade Sandin instead? He plays an OFD role and will be blocked by Rielly from truly developing. I still don't see how all 3 are the same type when Liljegren is the most different from the 2.Right now what i see from liljegren, its not a 2 way dman but a very good puck moving dman like what was anton stralman.
Who was the best morgan rielly partner? ... Ron Hainsey, why? He was a stay at home dman who just played a real good defensive game and allowed to rielly to do what they wanted on the ice.
Who was the best partner of erik karlsson in his career? Marc Methot why? The same answer.
Rielly strenght : offensive
Sandin offensive
Liljegren strenght: move the puck
All those 3 player weakness: defensive zone coverage...
You may as well try.If Muzzin does go on LTIR, which I think will happen, what are peoples thoughts of potentially seeing what a defensive pairing of Brodie - Liljegren could potentially be?

Anyone with cap knowledge know whats the benefit for us here?
LTIR relief works by calculating a new upper limit for teams, so the closer you are to the cap when you use LTIR, the more relief you get
I agree. My thought process with that potential pairing was we’d go out and acquire another defenceman who could play with Rielly. A Brodie - Liljegren pair would be a huge test for Liljegren but if it works, it has the tools to be a very good shutdown pair.I'd be hesitant to explore that just because I don't see any of Liljegren, Lyubushkin or Holl being able to handle top pairing minutes effectively.

it still depends on his injury. The Leafs were in a similar situation with Andersen last year, but he returned like the game before the playoffs and they didn't really get to take advantage of it. But just with how lenient the NHL's been with Tampa and Vegas, the Leafs should go for it and dare the NHL to say somethingYep, definitely going LTIR.
Now... the fun part... how will they use their LTIR space.
