Would you trade Mrazek for Koskinen (pending UFA, retained to equal salary) 1 for 1?

Seattle has a good bunch of dudes who might be good fits.
Soucy and Gio on the backend, and some decent complementary forward options.
I'd target soucy over gio. Hes physical, good in transition, good defensively and can fight if necessary. Hes my number 1 target considering the low cost.

Just one more post on Miller's stats:

JT Millers 5v5 defensive REL numbers this season:

Corsi Against: +1.45
Shots Against: +2.19
Scoring Chances Against: +1.82
High Danger Chances Against: +1.59 (worst on the team of any regular forward)
xGA: +0.37 (worst on the team of any regular forward)

Misc. stats:

Takeaways/60: 0.92 (2nd worst of all regular forwards)
Blocked shots/60: 2.09 (Below average on for regular forwards)

Maybe he's just playing out of his depth but he's been pretty bad defensively this season. Maybe all those hits he gets are because he's chasing the play.

I'm not purposely trying to crap on the guy but I just think people see points and say "ooooh shiny" while not looking at the overall game. He certainly has value as a high end role player but the asking prices I've seen have been ridiculous.

Instead of going all-in with our newfound cap-space....I'd much rather try get 2-3 really good depth pieces to fill us out.

Pieces who play a robust style of game would be ideal. Goodrow/Coleman types that Tampa had during their cup run

Are those guys depth pieces though? I think Coleman cost the Bolts basically 2 firsts and Goodrow was a 1st a and a prospect. They had those guys for two playoff runs and then they walked. Two playoffs and gone is still kind of a rental and I am not sure they don't win without Goodrow but I see your logic because most pure rentals don't work out. With Foligno I just think he was done but other high profile guys with big roles don't necessarily mesh right away with only 9 games to acclimatize. The guys who don't play top 4 spend their career trying to fit in because the play isn't built around them so maybe they hit the deck running more often.

Also if the club had looked for someone with less of a resume than Foligno, that person could have required no retention and might still be with them this year, albeit at similar cost. Was the Foligno choice driven by Troy Bodie or Dubas? I think the one playoff rental strategy is purely on the GM but when KD says "we need to add an x ..." its pro scouting he relies on a lot to tell him how much game the guy has left. Was Foligno the kind of player Eric Joyce would champion?

So a Coleman type costs them a 1st and Robertson and Goodrow a 1st and maybe Abruzzese? There is an element of "going for it" when you look at the prospects attached but I think some big moves will happen. I don't have a preference on what they do so long as the adds make them better. My only real concern is the goaltending doesn't looks as reliable as you might like but I don't think that prevents them from thinking this could be the year and spending accordingly..
