Can you show me a clip of a single big hit from Brown? He was physically invisible in the playoffs. He works hard, sure, but nobody is looking over their shoulder to see if he's coming. Problem is that everyone else in the playoffs steps up the effort level and Brown's main asset gets washed out.

I think he means Trevor Moore. Who dumped chara.

only other hits I remember were Clifford. Muzz and kadri almost killing a guy

I just want a significant add
So good for sports and fanbases
I remember how excited I was when Owen Nolan was traded to the leafs
The anticipation was so awesome

I'm torn, the right add could be the difference between a cup and not, but those deadline deals (Leech, Nolan, Francis, Wesley, O'Neill) gutted us coming out of the lockout.

Picks traded (Notable players available and taken soon after)
03 1st (21st) (Richards, Kesler, Boyle, Perry)
04 1st (24th) (Schneider, Green, Bolland)
04 2nd (59th) (Dubinsky,Goligoski,Krejci)
05 2nd (40th) (Sauer, Stastny,Abdelkader)
Brad Boyes

Here is my prediction, Dubas doesn't trade a first round pick at the deadline. Doesn't mean he won't trade a top prospect, but I have a feeling he doesn't trade the 1st.

I don't want him to move either. A depth D and a depth forward for middle round picks.
That could be the plan. Unless something falls in his lap at a price lower then expected, that might be the route they take. Maybe a Pysyk type that can push Liljegren into a 7th spot is fine.
I'm not sure about forwards.

Weirdly (for me) I think a guy I'm interested in is Cal Clutterbuck as a cheap deadline add.

The physicality is nice and all, but the reason why is he's one of the best defensive players in the league and has the ability to chip in sometimes. He'd be taking Simmonds spot for me, so I doubt it'd work, but he's somewhat interesting. Definitely an improvement on the 4th line.

Yes
But our 1st will prob be so low it could be considered a 2nd
So I’m comfortable doing it
Maybe getting a 2nd back somewhere else in a deal?

another comment
Rumor Habs going for Washington Russian goalie, he was very highly rated in pre draft
Why isn’t it an option for us either? Young goalie that would be cheap for coming years

Campbell is getting a raise and still a question mark
If he plays like the start of the season we won’t be able to afford him anyways?
Might help long term and capwise

I doubt the Isles move him, he’s part of their leadership group.

But I’d definitely take him over Simmonds right now

I think it's harder to do the Harlem Globetrotter thing in the post-season, not that it can't be done. The old Red Wings teams used to perfect it.

I don't think one of the deadline goals should be to remove our only tough player and replace him with another one. You should probably be adding to him.

Was listening to Mirtle and Siegel and they suggested Adam Larsson as an option. Obviously he just signed a fresh contract, meaning Seattle may be reluctant to move him, or if they were to, the price would be sky high. But would he be a good fit? Term and right side are nice.

I believe the team has had interest in Larsson before. Don't know if this was in an article or on a podcast. But I remember seeing or hearing that at the 2019 deadline, there was a deal in the works that was like Zaitsev, Brown ++ for Larsson, Khaira + or something. The deal got too complicated and they ran out of time and it was possibly to be revisited in the summer.

I think Dermott is pretty much on his way out at this point.

He's a really good 3rd pairing defenseman. Leaves a little to be desired offensively, but ridiculously strong defensive and transition results and has the ability to carry bad partners. A couple brutal mistakes really has hurt his standing in this org.

Just because we have 5 (maybe 6) better defenseman than him doesn't mean he shouldn't have value. I really hope we get something good for him, he succeeds (not against us) and finally establishes himself as a top-4 guy.

An unreliable defensive D is a tough spot to be in. Major mistakes in pressure situations is really tough to come back from especially when you aren't given the opportunity to make up for it at the other end.

Seems like it's best for both player and organization to move on

Simmonds isn't nearly as effective but I just love seeing players that love Toronto and the team actually play here. He cares a lot. Hopefully he can find another gear when the playoffs start.

I don't see the fit but it could make sense in a soft deal. Larsson isn't really much better than Holl in terms of effectiveness. If we're going to pay a premium, might as well go for someone really good... not just average.

he's also tight with JT...i think it would be a solid add

Yup - there's still value there. 1.5 mill is probably too rich for a 7th D and he doesn't really bring anything different than the D that play ahead of him (strong physical game would be nice).
