Dobson's SF% and CF% are better with just about every other D on the team... except Mayfield, who is Dobson's worst partner.

Chara's worst numbers are with... Mayfield...

Greene's worst numbers have been with Salo and Mayfield.

I'm not sold on Chara OR Mayfield. In my limited viewings, I've just seen Chara being skated around at will.

Chara is god awful and anyone that has watched him in the past season or so will tell you that, whether they are an Islander or neutral NHL fan.

I think I'd rather trade a 1st round pick for Chiarot than to acquire Chara for anything else.

Nah I would rather have the corpse of Chara for next to nothing than pay a 1st for Chiarot. At least you can bench Chara when he sucks without any obligation due to paying so much in a trade.

I would love for one of our rivals to blow their assets on Chiarot. Fortunately, it seems like Dubas is not even interested so that is good.

I believe we will have to give up any kind of sweetner when I see it.

But sure, Herzog's rights would be fine I guess.
+1 with a quick search I noticed philly at 49 & Montreal at 48 SPC contracts, with both teams expected to be sellers at the deadline you think they might want to clear up a couple contract spots.
I still think the move is for a collection of depth or dregs that another team might not have on their cap but still have to pay out in real dollars (buried 1 way deals nearing $1m) a couple of those for Ritchie who they can play in the line up and rebuild value to flip later might make sense to some teams.
Maybe Ritchie + Dermott to philly for Braun + 3 or 4 of Sandin Seeler Clendenning Brassard (any expiring 1 way depth piece) I’m sure a pick would be required, or an SPC exempt prospect from our pool that isn’t the big 4? Either way it’s certainly not going to cost prime assets to move off Nick.

Mayfield is fine, but people expecting him to be any better than (or even as good as) Holl will likely be disappointed. Especially when he goes from a system that fits him perfectly to a system like ours.

Chara's value is purely based on his complete willingness to abuse game management and his veteran stature to get called for 1 penalty per game while committing 1 per shift.

It would be an interesting experiment. Would they start calling him if he was a Leaf? If so, we'd have to get the even up calls, so would we be better off with more games decided by PP/PK?

I sure hope he isn't, but Chris Johnston said he inquired about him and were interested in him back when he was a free agent. Although, Dreger said the Leafs were aggressively pursuing him, which probably means that the Leafs are completely disinterested

Too much smoke around Chiarot and the Leafs. And we already know the Leafs will trade a first rounder for a shitty rental.

Not looking great

I think it would be 3-for-1.

Schenn is more useful... Rather have him.

If it’s affordable I wouldn’t necessarily mind getting Chara and Schenn so you have a LHD and RHD to mix and match with Sandin and Liljegren as an option for your 6th, 7th, 8th options. Schenn had some success babysitting Quinn Hughes a few years ago and I think Liljegren could also benefit from some one on one tutoring beside a Hall or Famer.

Chara has 750k in performance bonuses that would roll over to next year if we can't fit them in. The bonuses are likely X amount of games played, make playoffs & make/win cup finals. I doubt his impact is worth paying bonuses for.

Haven't thought about it much besides rentals:

Giroux, FF09, or Hertl. All three play driving top-line F that really move the needle.

Non-rentals though? JT Miller, DeBrusk, Kravtsov are all guys I'd probably take a swing on before Crouse. I've heard lots of issues with Miller's personality though, so I'm hesitant.
I’d have some interest in debrusk for sure don’t think we have the cap space nor would want to give up the assets for the other guys

I’m not really overly interested in Debrusk personally, but either way it’s most likely a moot point. The odds Boston is making a deadline deal with any of Florida, Toronto or Tampa are insanely low
