The impact he'll have in the playoffs will be worth him walking with no return.
agree, look at him as a solid deadline acquisition, he and kerfoot were two players that showed up vs Canadians
Lehk has always been a player I thought would be a solid addition, make you harder to play against type of guy....wouldnt give a 1st though and definitely not 1st and prospect

His trade value is really only to a contender anyway unless he's willing to forgo free agency and immediately sign a contract as a condition of any trade.

I can't see him going for close to a 1st, is this a reported asking price??

No because dont need to trade and lehkonen is probably more valuable to montreal than toronto. Lehkonen is a very good exemple of hard working and play the good way for younger player who will come in.

And... let be honest, no body will want to sign in montreal after a season like this one. So they need to keep their plsyer who play the right way to protect their young player

Lehtonen is also an RFA, he not worth is QO. Good bottom six player though.

Instead of Lehkonen, I'd be looking at Armia from the Habs if you can get him at a decent price.

Could you get the Habs to retain at a price where it would make sense for both?

Not really sure what guys like Lehkonen or Armia really bring to our roster? I’d take Engvall or Mikheyev over them and keep assets.

If we’re looking to add bottom six players, it should be a 4th line center. We don’t really need Montreal’s garbage.

Derek Grant comes to mind. Great in the face off circle, kills penalties, provides grit, good size, has another year on his contract, etc.

Imo it's a waste of assets to trade for another 5-7 D.

I'd they're going to pull the trigger on a trade it needs to be for at least a #4 level guy
Not if theyre equal/better than Holl/Dermott, are cheaper, and have an extra year.

Added depth for this year, better/ cheaper d corps next year, move Holl/Dermott to subsidize the acquisition cost

There's no harm in moving those guys for a solid vet 3rd pairing D, but we would still need to get that shutdown 2nd pairing guy to pair with Muzzin.

I wanted Grant before the Ducks signed him. But at $1.5 mil, he’s overpaid and who do you move out of the lineup? Spezza or Engvall?

I think I’d stick with our forward crew as is, and focus on the D.

Get him retained, and rotate Spezz and Simmonds on RW as needed. Spezz is great on the dot and fine in the ozone but isn't an every day 200ft centre any more

Maybe.

But I'm fine rolling with a combination of Lily and Sandin next season there.

I'd agree Dermott likely moved at some point. Holl will depend on if they get a clear upgrade.

A partner for Muzzin is in need more if they make a move at the tdl

I'm actually thinking both gone next year. Change 3.5 for Holl + Dermott into 2-2.2 for retained Soucy/Mayfield + vet ufa #7

Go to Buffalo and get Miller (if when he gets back from injury he looks good) and Pysyk in the same deal. Both expiring guys, not big names so your not paying a premium.

Both play solid defensively with not much offensive upside.

Miller partners with Muzzin, Psysk is your new #7/8.

Now that we are debating about adding him, are you able to show these type of cards for Engval, Kampf, Simmonds or Spezza?

I know RHD is the focus as it should be...BUT man is it tempting to think how amazing our forward corps would be if we could find a way to add Claude Giroux.

I think anyone they bring in that's not an impact player on either forward or D will be a waste of assets. At this point on forward you're replacing either Spezza or Simmonds, might as well swing for the fences at that point and make someone like Kase/Mikheyev slide down to the 4th line with Spezza and Engvall.

I know everyone likes Manson and the idea of a big mean tough guy, but if Hampus Lindholm is up for trade as a pending UFA, he's someone I take over Manson anyday, a true legit top 4 d-man to play with Muzzin.

When I've watched him he seems prone to the big mistake, The Gardiner style big mistake that really sicks in your mind

He played that 2 on 1 horrifically, that's going to stick with people even if his metrics look good overall
Morgan so prone to the same mistakes- if you watched the jersey goal the other night he lifted his leg out of the way instead of blocking the shot like most dmenall dmen are prone to a bad m mistake even norris winners

I would love to be able to add oleksiak and pavelski

bunting matthews marner
Pavelski tavares kase
Kerfoot nylander mikaye
Engvall kamf spezza
Simmonds ritchie

reilly brodie
Muzzin oleksiak
Sandin holl
Lilly
