If Dubas coughs up a 1st for Chariot, it's clear he hasn't learned a single thing from the Foligno mess. I'm still hopeful he won't make the mistake again, but it's worrying a little.
I rather get Manson if we are insistent on getting this kind of d man.

Sure toronto have interest like they hhave interest on every player who can help the team but the real question, how serious is the interest?

And maybe they have an interest but chiarot is plan D if plan A B C dont work.

Exemple

A-Lindholm
B Manson
C-Mayfield
D- chiarot

Who knows?

Maybe... but considering the rumours and the interest from a few years ago, I would say he's at the top of their list despite the qualms here that he shouldn't be.

Might be Muzzin insurance?
Third year in a row he’s been injured, two years where it really stung.
But if this is a buyers market, I’d rather wait til the 2nd or 3rd last chair if the reported valuations come to pass.

That seems likely. Just someone that can play tough defensive minutes in a pinch. It makes some sense but the value is the big problem that we can all agree on...

Like manson and every player available. As a gm you always try to find player who will help your team and yes you gonna be interest by a lot of player. Thats why toronto always on very trade rumors because its his job calling and try to upgrape our team as much as you can with salary cap. Yes he already call chiarot when he was on free agency wheb toronto had a big hole in d.

But the question is always how much you like the player and how high are you ready to pay.

Exemple, toront are very high on both of chiarot and manson. Habs absolutly want a 1st pick but he get a deal for a 2nd and a 4th for manson. You still like chiarot but are you really be ready to give more to him than manson?

Good target here

He has good defensive numbers, and his skating isnt bad at all. Wonder if you can include a Holl type to almost fully balance the deal, or do we just offer futures and have one of Holl or Liljgren as a spare D?

I think both Giroux and Pavelski would be fun and interesting options, though both would be a bit of a luxury.

Both have plenty of playoff experience and they can both play centre and wing. But, both have huge cap hits.

Wondering if you go that route, if you go for Hertl. He can also play centre and wing and also has a lot of playoff experience. He's also younger and has a smaller cap hit. Price to acquire him may be a bunch higher though.
I would almost prefer to pay for someone who isnt as good but has term at a really good cap hit, so instead of going crazy all in for this year we make a good addition for the next 2 or 3.
I.E If you can find someone who can do what Kerfoot does for +-2m, you can move Kerfoot for assets and free up more room next year for other contracts.

I'm sorry but Kerfoot is nowhere near Miller's level. Kerfoot is having a good reason riding shotgun with Nylander and Tavares. He's metrics are actually pretty bad.
Never said he was. But he's a forward on pace for 60 points this year. That has value. If not to us, another team would definitely give up value to take him and likely put him into a similar role as a cheapish middle 6 forward.

He isn't a throw in for a Miller trade. I can live with the prospects and futures.

Consider that Nucks already have Garland, I don’t think they want another undersized top 6 esp if the trade is for Miller

On board for Manson or DeMelo.

I will be physically sick if Dubas trades a 1st for Chiarot.

He would have managed to pull off an even worse trade than the one he made Foligno not even a year later, and not added an impact player in the process.

Please no……

Chiarot is probably a capable 3rd pair and PK guy, Foligno was sub NHL level, on the rare occasions he did play. I don't know if it's possible to make a worse rental trade then that.

Other than Chychrun, are there any real solid top-4 names out there from a rumours perspective? I don't seem to recall many.

You really shouldn't want either. Both are garbage.

Lindholm - cost is likely very high and really not what we need

Manson - good fit in terms of style but cost also likely high and his status as a true top 4 is questionable for some (me included).

Klingberg - not necessarily a great fit in terms of style

Mayfield - I'm not convinced he's actually available though

Braun - more of a 4/5 but a guy I personally see as a good fit for us.

De Haan - more like 4/5 again but also a guy who could be a good fit.

That's about it, for top 4 capable guys. Maybe Stralman and or Lyubushkin from Arizona, but I'd say both are a streatch, Stralman does have the history of quality top 4 play though.

We just need another Bunting, at the same cap hit and the right handed d-man version of Bunting on the same cap hit. Come on, is that SO much to ask for?

And just like that, Justin Holl is rebounding big

Normally I'm not an advocate of judging a players value on such a small sample, but f*** was Severson bad. I'd be lying if I said my opinion of him wasn't altered.
It was that 2 on 1. It was shocking. It wasn't even beer league quality....that was "developmental league" level. That said, maybe it was just a moment of insanity.

Don't try to upgrade our top 4 with a bottom pair dman from a craptastic defensive team, imo.
If they’re so craptastic how did they beat us for the Stanley cup back in December?

typical leaf fans smh

Defence:
Manson
DeMelo
Connor Murphy
Mayfield
DeHaan

Forwards:
JT Miller
Fiala
Hagel

All of them represent decent upgrades. A package with Chicago for Murphy and Hagel is a 1st round pick + that is finally well spent and makes us better.

Lots of people seem to mention Hagel and Murphy, I get why as far as want but why is Chicago trading them? Is it just the "nobody is off limits except Toews/Kane" comment or is there actual reason to believe either are available.

Hagel is 23, scoring at a 25G/50pt pace, with grit, signed for 2 more years at a only 1.5 per, seems like a player a rebuilding team would want to keep.
Murphy just signed an extension that hasn't even kicked in yet
