I wonder what the Flyers are gonna ask for Giroux as a rental. He'd be a pretty good 3rd line C option especially if Keefe plans to keep Nylander on the 3rd line. Would probably need a 3rd team involved to eat some of the cap like we did with the Foligno trade last year or else there's no way we could make that trade.

Literally no one is going crazy for Chariot. No one.

Cody Ceci played top-4 minutes for us. We don't get this defenseman for how slick he is with the puck - Rielly, Brodie, Sandin, Lilly, and Muzzin are all good with the puck. I want defensive responsibility (inclusive of whatever defensive style works for this player), net clearing, and occasional crushing hits.

you think they are going to go pickup chariot to not play top 4 minutes ?

also the basis of your argument is false ........ giving up amazing assets to get chariot would be a shit move because your massively overpaying for a less than 1 dimensional player, when you could use those assets on something ALOT better. ................. defending the pickup by saying "hes a defensive defensman" is lazy ..........

its the same shit as last year .... massive overpayment just like for foligno

DeMelo is someone I’ve wanted Dubas to pursue for a while now and I think he’d be a great addition.

Don't know that Winnipeg would have any appetite to move him at anything resembling a reasonable price.

DeMelo was also the Dman that I wished Dubas had traded for back when the Sens were having their fire sale and Sens fans had said that he was a solid, steady defenseman which is exactly what the Leafs needed. Jets only gave up a 3rd rounder to get him and I would be fine giving up a 3rd to get him now.

If the leafs want to have enough cap at the deadline to add a 3-4 million dollar player, they're going to have to ship someone out soon to accrue that space.

I'd probably dangle Liljegren, a prospect like Holmgren and a first for Severson if he comes with retention and/or they take a dump like Ritchie. Not sure exactly but I think this gets you in the ballpark for him.

Even now people are still throwing Liljegren into trade proposals. Why can't we just keep him and let him play here for a few years and see how he does before deciding to trade him? :(

I imagine he’s dangled in these fantasies because he’s seen as a player with value. I doubt anyone is just dumping him.

I'd still rather see him play for the Leafs and develop here and see where he's at in a few years before trading him. I don't know why we can't show a little patience with him rather than wanting to move him when he's just starting his NHL career.

Melnyk was never going to trade DeMelo to the Leafs...

???? they literally traded gal their teams In the past 5 years.

Phaneuf.brown. Zaitsev……. I can’t even think of how many trades have gone down between the team

Gotta give to get. I like Liljegren a lot but...

Why not? Leafs and Senators do business from time to time, like Ceci for Zaitsev and Brown, Phaneuf to Ottawa... the Galchenyuk trade with Carolina may have been a three way...

Liljegren, 1st and Holmberg would be an overpayment for Severson. Liljegren or a 1st and then another prospect should suffice.

My preference is to keep Liljegren out of the deal.

Maybe they have interest in Niemela.

I'd rather keep Liljegren than trade him especially for a guy like Severson. I'd rather see if a DeMelo is available which is what the Leafs need more of.

That's fair. I can see both points. I think Severson is a quality defenseman, but going the cheaper route and keeping a good young player is definitely fine as well.

If my math is right. Dumping Ritchie and trading dermott plus prospects only gets you up to just over 4 million.

if a player has term. Can’t have retention really. So it would have to be severson and down. Maybe Connor Murphy.

I still think a rental is most likely. Just hopefully not for a first
