100%. I told myself I wasn't going to get invested in this season at all and just the playoffs. Then I come on here and  all day to the point I get sucked right back in.

For me though this is actually the best team we've had in my 28 years of life. All three of Matthews, Marner, and Nylander are having the best season of their careers, the bottom 6 legitimately looks like they're a net positive in 99% of games, and the team defense has never been close to this good. Not to mention an elite PP and PK to go with it.

With Jack playing like Jack we were unstoppable. I can't even imagine how far ahead we'd be of Florida and Tampa right now if we got league average goaltending since Dec 1. We're such a good team we're winning in spite of having the worst overall goaltending in the league for months.
This is why a lot are having a mini freak out. Best chance in a long time and it may be ruined by our goaltending falling off a cliff. We have cap space to address but no one really available. Gotta say Im definitely a little stressed.

For me I hope we make all sorts of upgrades but if we dont upgrade our goalies....or if they dont turn it around soon, I hope we stay away from rentals regardless of how appealing

Insider Trading talked about Kuzmenko, KHL free agent who will probably make the jump to the NHL. Doesn't specify teams involved but we know the Leafs scout Russia a lot.

LeBrun also mentions Gilman scouting the Canucks. He said Gilman was there to look at JT Miller, among other players. Nothing serious from the Leafs interest. Canucks apparently don't want to trade him unless there's a huge overpay, which is why Garland and Boeser are gaining interest from other teams.

Insider Trading: Leafs' assistant GM Gilman spotted at back-to-back Canucks games

I really don't understand why the Leafs would even entertain getting a guy like Garland or Boeser. It feels like the Leafs would just be wasting their assets at this point and those trades don't significantly address what they're lacking on the Leafs roster.

J.T. Miller should be the one and only forward target from the Canucks. You can make a case for Pearson, but at that point I think you're just shifting the deck chairs because there's not a significant difference between him and Kerfoot in terms of performance. I would pay the price and get Miller.

Why are the leafs linked to so many left handed defenceman? I don't get it unless Muzzin is out until the playoffs.

Likely based on availability and what the Leafs are specifically looking for.

If the top pairing is going to be Rielly and Brodie for the first playoff game and the 3rd pairing is likely to be Sandin - Lybushkin or something along those lines, what does that 2nd pairing look like that Keefe has generally used as a shutdown pairing.

Holl has played well for the last 10 or so, but you can't ignore the first 40. So what does that leave on the roster? Liljegren who hasn't played full-time and a question mark in Muzzin. So I would be looking at multiple defensemen, regardless of handedness, for the 2nd pairing.

They didn't say we had interest in Boeser or Garland, more that most teams are focusing them since the price to get Miller is too high.

I took Lebrun saying "among others" as they were looking at them. That could be my bad. Just the way I was interpreting it.

My point still remains that Miller should be the only target.

I am not interested in Miller if all they want is an overpay.

We are not in the overpay market right now. Not with our goaltending the way it is.

Vancouver has nothing else of interest on their NHL roster.

Garland would have been a good target but he's another right handed shot. He's a hardworker with plenty of tools and signed long-term to a solid deal as well.

We need a legit left handed LW in my opinion.

The Leafs biggest problem in the playoffs has been scoring goals.

I don't think getting rid of a guy hovering around a ppg is going to help fix that.
I don’t believe last years playoffs has any bearing on this years playoffs

Boeser would be a nice pick up, him and Matthews are good friends as well. I think he has a very lethal shot that he needs a change of scenery and confidence.

This 100%, people keep saying they need to get defence, every year in the playoffs the Leafs couldn’t buy goals. They need more offensive depth.

Well that and guys willing to pay the price to crash one in the net. Glad we have bunts but Leafs need another one.

He also said don’t expect Dubas to be out there making deals like his jobs on the line. *Because it isn’t.* <- he didn’t say that directly but the implication was management doesn’t feel pressure to go “all in” to save themselves and that this season will be a judgement on the core players on the ice, not necessarily the higher ups making those decisions.
As I’ve said before if they flame out and there’s refusal to change course wrt to roster construction then all bets are off, but I believe this group gets a chance to mix things up on the ice before being shown the door.
Also, I feel very confident if either our coach or GM became unemployed neither would be out of work for very long.
I'm glad to hear that. It's really easy to think the sky is falling as a Leaf fan but the reality is that we're one of the best teams in the league that is still very early in our window for contention.

I'd definitely be in on Kuzmenko. You can never go wrong with these free wallet type additions.

Or at least move Kerfoot in the offseason.

I don't think Toronto will be moving anyone off the roster this season unless its someone like Dermott, they are going to try to ice the best possible lineup, and then would probably move Kerfoot in the offseason to recuperate assets used this year.

Don't think Toronto touches the goaltending in the season, historically a goalie acquired at the deadline hasn't worked out very well for the team getting him. Still hoping to get a legitimate top 6 forward at the deadline, bolster our forward depth that much more, adding someone like Miller/Forsberg or a top six caliber would make there top six elite, with a quality 3rd line that can chip in a goal and play very well defensively.

If Toronto can get 915/920 goaltending like what Campbell average is, they'll be okay.
