GDT: Trade and Free Agency Thread - 2021/22 PART IX

Seems like there are many teams that have a shot to go far and few high end players available.

The East is essentially set and has been for some time now. The difference is nobody in the East is buying a pending UFA aside from the teams who are in. In the past we have seen the teams battling for 7th/8th/9th/10th all buying or at least refusing to sell because they're in the race.

The West is a bit trickier with teams like Anaheim, but if they're selling their pending UFAs as that link suggested they will if they can't come to an agreement, then yeah - the supply is likely to be quite high at the deadline compared to years past.

I would be very interested in a Manson and Rakell package deal, adds a middle six forward and a low end bottom 4 d-man that addresses the "meanness" needed in the playoffs.

Seems to be a lot of player available and not as many buyers, FLA/COL/VGK/CGY/CAR no longer have their first round picks this year, if Toronto goes the route of trading it, thats 5 buyers they are already ahead of.

What about Liljegrenn + Muzzin for Lindholm ?

My independent +/- value score. (Value only).

Liliegren (+/- value of +2.7) (4 years of control)
Muzzin (+/- value of -1.3) (LTR/concussion/contract burden/question marks about health)

Lindholm (+/- value of +1.4) the best player by far but a UFA.

Lindholm-Holl

Columbus taking calls on Texier, I prefer him to Hagel especially if the apparent ask is cheaper.
Texier would be a solid get if he's cheap... I suspect he wouldn't be.

Dermott for Texier straight up in the summer maybe? I dunno.

Hawks hired their new GM. He has a rare chance of kick starting his tenure the right way. But I have no idea if the goal is to retool or rebuild.

I suspect they'll be a busy team.

No thanks. Sandin and Liljegren are developing towards being top 4 defensemen.

If you're adding Lindholm it's to support those guys.

Kane and Toews double retained would kick start their rebuild in a big way. They make next to no real $ over the next year and a half so finding a team to take the other 25% cap hit would be pretty easy.

Moving Debrincat should be on the table as well.

Like the forward group, like Fleury, hate all of those defensive options.

No chance. Very interested in your independant value score though. DM me it, if you don't mind.

Oleksiak signed a long term contract in the summer. Can’t see him going anywhere, unfortunately. Would have loved him in Toronto.

Would like to see someone with some muscle on JTs wing along with Nylander.

It sucks our goalie situation is in flux, because I think all this roster needs is a little toughness (and skill) on the second line and bottom pair.

Does JT Miller scrum it up at all? I don't watch him much. What's Giordano's physical game like?

I mean you HAVE to want a 34 (almost 35) year old goalie making over 10M/season for another 5.5 years, who's last good season was 2018-19 and hasn't played a game all year.

Lol
Who single handedly took a team to the finals last year. Something the Leafs havent done in like 60 years. Oh and the year prior single handedly beat the penguins. Dude is a stud who will bring his A game in the playoffs. He doesnt have to be dominant in the regular season.

This is the move that puts us over the top. Price is a game and series changer. He strikes fear into opposing players. Get 50 percent retainment and give up a first or two and we are championship guaranteed. Assuming he passes a physical and is mentally ready to come back.

I’m really iffy on Domi. Would personally love to see Domi on the back of a Leafs jersey again, would bring some nice memories back. He also does provide some feistiness and secondary scoring but his defensive game is terrible.

Tavares-Miller-Nylander gives us two high end 1st lines.
