I've got no problem if we can upgrade Kerfoot with Giroux I'm just wondering if there's a way to make the money work without Kase in the deal because I believe he is driving that 3rd line

Like Kerfoot plus futures for Giroux at 50%

Giroux and Jones at 50%, move out Mrazek and Ritchie. Of course, that isn't how the full deal would go down, but that's the cap gymnastics for you.

I highly doubt Kerfoot gets moved. He’s very liked by his teammates and management. His game really elevated in the playoffs last year and continued into this season. For 3.5 million, it’ll be hard to find someone who can slot at the #6 forward spot that can play on either special teams and can even line up at center or wing.

Thanks for that, that won't be cheap I'd imagine

No, it wouldn't be cheap at all... it's not a move I'd be campaigning for. Rather spend the assets on D personally. If Giroux is to become a Leaf, I'd prefer it to be an offseason Free Agency signing, like Spezza... as in, at a considerable discount to maybe his previous contract/market.

If you can get Giroux at a Kerfoot contract, for three years, I'd do that, and move Kerfoot.

Highly improbable though.

Fair comment. I'd not be sad to get Pav. I just prefer Giroux. 1) you can find a spot for Giroux on the top two lines without having to switch Nylander to RW, which you'd have to do with Pavelski, and two, while Joe is doing fine at this moment, he's doing it having played 29 games over 2.5 months, not every other night, which can be the reality of playoff hockey. I'll lean my stick on the guy 33 v 37 at that point in the season. But, that's me. What would you consider to be his cost to acquire?

Your offer i dont think that really help the leafs. Add by withdraw 2 regular player playing excellent hockey, i don't see where that trade should upgrade overall team. I really like what i see from kerfoot and kase and i will add kerfoot was our 2th best foward last playoff behind willy nylander so an other reason why i think its a bad idea.

For pavelski maybe a 1st and and a prospect like der-arguchintsev or abramov or something like that could be enought with 50% retain and gave an late round pick to a 3rd team if they need to retain an other 50% like dubas did with foligno.

What do people think about this trade:

Mrazek + Kerfoot

for

Puljujarvi + Koskinen

Yeah I'm thinking Holl is the upgrade candidate as well

Toronto would have to re-sign (or replace) both players and they'd lose out on Kerfoot's capability to play centre when needed.

For about 30 games he looked calm and poised in every high stress situation

Unfortunately that was so long ago
It's not helping that muzz has looked terribad many nights himself. At least before muzzin cleaned up some of not many of holl's errors and provided a safety blanket of sorts.

hell no. Koskinen is just so bad. & if Campbell went down he’d have to play. So for that reason it’s a no.
while on the oilers so were Dubnyk and Talbot, but, very good away from the oilers... food for thought there.

I was just browsing capfriendly and noticed that Sidney Crosby is going to only be making $3M per season for the next 3 seasons of his contract. I wonder if he and the team will mutually terminate his contract this summer so he can be paid market value for his last years in the league. He has one form of leverage: he can just decline to return for 2022-23 season.

Doubtful. He probably wants to retire a Penguin unless he really wants to go for another cup or the Pens really want to blow it up.

I know it's not going to happen but can you imagine if Owen Power decided to stay in college and pull an Adam Fox to the Leafs. Fox is from the NY area and only wanted to play for the Rangers.

Would make for spectacular theatre.

One can only dream lol
