The team implodes because we added a divisive cancer to the room and don't have the leadership to control him

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot barge pole, he's got some serious problems
I'm with you on this. Kane has some sociopathic traits. But even if he's in the "mild" range, it takes years and years and years for people with that profile to show changes. Those traits don't change with 8 sessions of cognitive behavioural therapy. Very risky.

I truly can't understand the amount of people on here ripping on Kane because his off ice issues have become public regarding his ex wife. Anything that was hockey related was investigated and he was cleared of any wrong doing. Yes I understand he faked his vaccination status, just like Aaron Rogers did for the Packers, I don't see NFL franchises really giving a crap about it. The league is full of players who have done a lot of shady things, but have been lucky enough for it to not be constantly talked about throughout the media. Hell, our president Brendan Shanahan slept with his teammates wife and is now married to her. So let's be real here.

Point is, Kane is a top 5-10 power forward in the game. He's exactly the type of player this team is missing and could only dream of getting, especially if he comes retained.

It's more than that. You make it sound like he's just having a marriage problem and that's it, while the rest is just no big deal. It's about the media attention and circus. He's also apparently a huge pain in the butt to deal with and there is a long history of locker room issues with him. This goes back to his Atlanta Thrashers/Jets days.

Can the Leafs over look his big locker room issues, faking vacccination papers, and other personal issues just because he's good? At one point do you turn a blind eye to a huge problem just for talent? This team can't hide away from the attention like the Hurricanes can. We all talk about finding players with heart, finding the right mix of players for the locker room, intangibles etc.... but all of a sudden that doesn't matter anymore?

I'm all for taking advantage of situations and Kane at 3.5M is interesting, but let's not pretend it's just marital issues he's going through. I don't think it's worth the risk at all but I also don't have the ability to talk to E. Kane and know what is happening behind the scenes. All I know is what is reported.

I can't help but feel that a lot of the hate and attention that Kane receives is due to his race. I only say this because there have been multiple amount of players throughout the years that have done things 100 times worse then Kane but the league, players, and fans choose to turn a blind eye to it. Everything from players drinking and driving causing death, players with excessive drug problems, players sleeping with teammates wives, etc and that's just to name a few.

A perfect example is the Kyle Beach story. I'm sure everyone would welcome a Toews or Patrick Kane on our team, and these are players who are aware of a fellow teammate who was being sexually assaulted and did absolutely nothing about it. But according to the league and media and fans, that's perfectly ok.

People hate on Kane because the media keeps pushing fans too. The guy has done a lot less then a lot of players in the NHL but yet, he's being black balled from the league. That's an absolute joke.

No, he’s just a piece of shit. Big buff was ready to cave his face in numerous times. Not in the least a race thing

That's a heck of a stretch and assumption that is nowhere near what I feel like is the problem.

But hey... we'll see where he ends up if he does get traded.

Please elaborate as to what makes him a piece of shit? You really want to use Big Buff as your example? I'm sure Big Buff wasn't a model citizen either as a player or teammate

I wasn't trying to insinuate that's what you meant and I apologize if that's how it came across. I was just speaking in general, not you specifically.

He faked medical documents in order to curtail Covid policies putting teammates their families and the general public in jeopardy for his own selfishness, he’s been accused of gambling on the sport and that’s a road no one wants to go down.
His teammates hate him everywhere he goes. He’s a dickhead

Ok he faked his vaccination status, I agree, stupid move but please stop with this putting teammates and families lives at risk BS to an end. Maybe you haven't seen Ottawa and the Islanders, both teams fully vaccinated and going through covid outbreaks.

League investigated the gambling accusation and he was dismissed of all of it, so nice try there.

Please state what teammates hate him? Big Buff (the player who refused to play for a team) Blake Wheeler (the player who is known to bully teammates). Because from what the Sharks players have said, he was nothing but a great teammate.

So once again, give me one legit reason as to why Kane should be receiving the treatment he's currently going through.

It's all good.

At the end of the day, you can't just go "what about this guy, what about that guy, what about this thing this guy did" . We're talking about Kane, not what other people did or didn't do. Whether it is warranted or not, Kane has a huge target on his forehead and a team like Toronto acquiring him puts that target on themselves. The second things don't go well, the thread might unravel and make things worse. This team is already fragile enough, adding some X factor that could make things even worse seems like something that doesn't need to happen. His locker room issues has followed him for more than just 1 instance.

But on the flip side, maybe he's changed. Maybe the things said about him are wrong or exaggerated. You are right in some ways. Like I said, it feels like a huge mistake but maybe there are some reasons to feel like he could be looking at his 3rd redemption for the better. Maybe the Leafs can give him his shot and maybe it goes super well.

You mean the same shark teammates that told management he’s not welcome in the room.
you have some interesting opinions on guys who are respected meanwhile trying to defend a woman beating, gambling, me first jerk off who’s rubbed every room he’s been in the wrong way and none of it has to do with race so please just give it up.

Ok so woman beating- investigated and dismissed
Gambling on hockey- investigated and dismissed
Cocky- makes him a POS

That's exactly what I'm talking about. You keep saying things about Kane that have been investigated and he's been found INNOCENT and cleared of those allegations. But sure, keep labeling him those things

Well he's had a few assault allegations (2014, 2016, and in 2021) .. Gambling addition.. Faking a vaccination record.. Altercations with teammates .... While there's question behind the truths to some of this, all of this adds up to a bad look. He really hasn't done anything to be given the benefit of the doubt. I mean 3 separate instances of assault allegations is just not a good look.

It's not about race. While the NHL and media could certainly have that bias, guaranteed there are many people who don't stand for his kind of behaviour whether the person is white or black.

He also had a tape allegation made against him when in Buffalo, of course I use the word allegation, because charges were dropped and he was never criminally found guilty... but yes, it adds onto all his other off ice antics. We don't need that on our team.

The media causes a stir here when a player farts a little too loudly. You just know someone would sniff around Kane to try and find something negative. And if he does do something stupid? Good luck.

Kane isn't even in the conversation at 50% off, it's just an awful fit with this market and his problems.

It’s only a problem if he does more stuff after he’s here. The media will have their week of stories when he gets here, but if he keeps his head down and contributes to the team winning, that turns around quickly.
