It’s only a problem if he does more stuff after he’s here. The media will have their week of stories when he gets here, but if he keeps his head down and contributes to the team winning, that turns around quickly.

Given the history of the individual in question, how likely do you think that is?

I expect he's traded to Ottawa for Murray.

He faked medical documents in order to curtail Covid policies putting teammates their families and the general public in jeopardy for his own selfishness, he’s been accused of gambling on the sport and that’s a road no one wants to go down.
His teammates hate him everywhere he goes. He’s a dickhead

Not to mention he has had two sexual assault allegations made against him by two different women, one of them beign his wife who claimed he forced oral sex upon her. The other one was involving a woman in Buffalo, mind you no charges were filed, but where there's smoke there is fire....

Buffalo one was Patrick Kane I believe.

Ok he faked his vaccination status, I agree, stupid move but please stop with this putting teammates and families lives at risk BS to an end. Maybe you haven't seen Ottawa and the Islanders, both teams fully vaccinated and going through covid outbreaks.

League investigated the gambling accusation and he was dismissed of all of it, so nice try there.

Please state what teammates hate him? Big Buff (the player who refused to play for a team) Blake Wheeler (the player who is known to bully teammates). Because from what the Sharks players have said, he was nothing but a great teammate.

So once again, give me one legit reason as to why Kane should be receiving the treatment he's currently going through.

Drama and distractions follow this guy where ever he goes. You can believe that Kane is a sold dude or he is a magnet for negative karma. I believe the later. Kane's distractions are not necessary for any Cup contender.

“I’ve said this before, but I think that management’s done a really good job limiting distractions for the players and for the staff, and this announcement today is just another example of that.” coach Bob Boughner said.

“I think that we like what we have in our room. We’ve built a pretty good atmosphere and culture and we’re going to continue to do that. This sort of allows us to put this behind us a little bit. It wasn’t a big subject in our room to begin with, but it is nice that we’re moving on.”

Read between the lines, the coach is telling us that Kane is a distraction and antithetical to a good locker room atmosphere.

Can you share a quote where a former teammate has said that Kane is a great teammate? Everything that I've read and heard has been the opposite.

Imagine Kane in a Leafs jersey, the media would have a feeding frenzy with him. Like we don't have enough stupid Leaf media questions now

If the Sens offer the Leafs Connor Brown for a 1st round pick and willing to take Nick Ritchie off our hands... do you do it?

Tough. It's not rational but if we give up on Ritchie I fully expect him to make us regret it, outscore his replacement and injure at least one leaf over the remainder of his contract.

Pass. I don't think the Leafs have any interest in moving Ritchie.

That's not something I think is true at all but the idea is more about a 1st round pick moved for Connor Brown, and salaries to match.

Definitely not rational... Ritchie injuring someone? I could see him getting lucky/hot if the Leafs do eventually move on.

I've been a big Brown fan since we drafted him. I hate seeing him on that team and that team sucks. I just want him back here and he'd be a big big upgrade.

So... I made a mistake and have to walk back the desire for double retention. I thought that with the Foligno (and other moves) getting players retained down to 25% that the rules had been changed, but it turns down it's just a loophole in the wording that only applies in rental situations.

Barring injuries / major hiccups I'm now in favour of a quiet deadline, maybe something like a retained Trevor moore to help this year and next, or a depth rental like Brassard/Sanford/Eakin

Not going out of his way to do it, but he hits like a truck and has crossed the line in the past, can be a loose cannon. Playing him 6 times a year with DJ Smith reving him up, feeding off Tkachuk...

I'll take that chance and go to sleep at night dreaming of Brown playing with Tavares and Nylander, or feeding nice passes to Matthews and Marner, and him killing penalties... and him not having 0 goals in however many games. Or him scoring a playoff series clinching goal... ok I went too far sorry.

Not keen to trade away firsts, yet I think I'd go for this. There would still be more decisions to come though with the cap increase here and Mikheyev's eventual return.

.
Yeah trading Brown was definately a mistake but I don't think this is how they would go about correcting it.
I think they'd be more inclined to move Holl than Ritchie and it would certainly be nice to keep the first.

Same here.

Hated how Brown was handled here and would love to have him back.

However our depth would not justify trading another 1st when we are playing as well as we are.

If Ottawa had in interest in a package there we send multiple pieces for Brown, I am all in as he makes more players expendable and I love how he plays.

Our 1st should be off limits unless it’s for a significant piece back, with term.

Dubas won’t be doing any Foligno type trades again, guaranteed.

I don't think you're getting much better than Brown for a late first round pick and a cap dump like Ritchie.

Brown was traded along with a cap dump which was an excellent and needed move at the time. Now that the Leafs know more or less what their cap structure is like for the next couple seasons, Brown can easily fit back for a cup run or two.

Brown is a whole lot better and useful than Foligno, especially since he's signed going into next season.

Unfortunately, the Leafs don't have the luxury of going after expensive forwards. There aren't many efficient forwards like Brown likely available for his cap hit.

Decision of some kind coming up soon, Mikheyev and Mrazek due back in the next week or so, and if there's no other injuries by then something will have to give, either a trade, someone on waivers (likely claimed) or one of the Swedish D to the minors.

Conditioning stints to stall for time wouldn't surprise me.

Canes seem to be weathering the DeAngelo storm just fine.
A 20ish game sample where the team is winning?

This is the porn equivalent of a two pumper. lol

I like the on ice player. Want nothing to do with the off ice player. That's a powder keg of division just waiting to explode....and if it happens, what do the Leafs do with him and his unmovable contract once he fractures the team here and no other team will take him?

No, I don't.

Brown is having a pretty good year, and I love the player. He gets quite a bit more playing time, than he would here though. (Our 3rd liners get ~11:30 per game 5v5... Brown is getting over 16 minutes)

He was the 4th line RW, behind Marner, Nylander and Kapanen at the time, hence why he was moved. For his cap hit, it didn't make sense.

He is at 1.9 Pts/60.

Kase is at 1.8 Pts/60
Simmonds is at 2.2 Pts/60

Sure, Brown might be better at hockey than these guys, but given the cost of a 1st you are proposing, to marginally improve our team... and it would only be marginally, it's just not worth it. Not to mention a $3.6 mil cap hit, while Kase is at $1.25 and Simmonds $900k.

Just to follow up... if I'm moving the first, it's not for the RW, it's for either a top 4 D, or a top six LW. Someone who will get the playing time, to be worth the cost.

To be fair a top 6 RW could move Willy to the left to bump out Kerf/Bunting, but honestly the way they are playing that's a pretty high bar. Almost has to be a 1st line type to make it worthwhile.

Fair enough, but I don't see Brown as an improvement over either Kerfoot or Bunting. It would really have to be a player a tier above these guys. Like a JT Miller/Forsberg/Rakell type player.
