Interesting that Kane hired Milstein as his agent and the Sharks are looking to retain 50%.

Dubas has a lot of history with Milstein.

Sounds like once he clears, there might be a trade happening. I'd bet that team being Carolina.

Was it reported that they are willing to retain the full 50%? I saw that they are willing to retain but didn't see that it was half.

That would have me intrigued, even with him having his issues.

EDIT: Oh wow - just saw the Dhaliwal tweet.

Kane would be a swing for the fences. Or a grenade into the locker room. However you wanna look at it, it would be entertaining af to see play out.

attitude and off ice shit not withstanding he’s pretty much exactly what we’re looking for in a LW.

Evander Kane at 50% would actually turn out to be a steal. He's friends with Wayne Simmonds too.

My bet is the team still being Carolina tbh

just as a player, Kane would be a perfect fit. Maybe there is a case to be made that Dubas should trust the character of the team he's assembled and go for the right player. Dubas tried going after babysitters last year in Foligno and Thornton, and they kind of sucked

Surprised a team like Arizona wouldn't roll the dice. They have no forwards signed beyond next year, will need to get to the cap floor, and are just terrible  .. They could easily try to have Kane rebuild his reputation to get some trade value.

Any trade for Kane would have to come with Contingencies. Like draft pick compensation for how many Games Evander Plays for the duration of this contract.

But I think it's absolutely worth a gamble @ 50% retained because as a player, Kane is exactly the type of Forward the Leafs need

The circus it would create would be crazy.

At the same time, the lack of playoff success might be lighting a fire under Dubas' seat right now. He could be at a point where he needs to take some risks to help this team to win now.

Kane at 50% retention, if it pans out, is a steal and could put the team over the top.

Dubas' DOES like reclamation projects. But Kane seems like the kind of player he'd maybe get in like two years when he's gone through a bit of emotional maturity.

He'd be torn to shreds here right now. And his questionable vaccination status would potentially prevent his ability to play in Canada

We can't go near Kane people

Besides the COVID thing this team has shown a lack of mental fortitude as recently as earlier this season and dropping a character like that into the room is fraught with risk

If things turn toxic I'm not sure this team could get there season back on the rails

So it's a gigantic no no for me

Kane:

Last Year: 32gl/72pt pace (25gl/56pt EV pace)
Last 3yrs: 33gl/63pt pace (22gl/45pt EV pace)

Amazing that anyone would want anything to do with this guy
