That Kuemper trade really looks like a miss so far by the Avs.

If Mrazek can play up to his standard once he returns from injury, I imagine he'll be a positive trade asset in the summer.

Of course that's assuming he can stay healthy and put up similar number that he has put up in recent seasons.

I feel like the Leafs probably dodged a bullet there. They were linked to Kuemper for a long long time. It felt like it was close to happening.

If we got jt miller
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Jt miller-Tavares-kase
Nylander-kerfoot-Spezza
Simmonds-Kampf-Ritchie

I know Petry is a mess right now but if he finds his game a bit, he’d be a great fit as a second pair right D with some salary retained by the Habs

Stephen my man if the Sens want to retain half on Murray and send us a 1st in exchange for Mrazek, I'll sign the papers right now.
Problem is that Mrazeks salary increases after this year to $4.4M and $4.2M in each of the last two years. Ottawa avoids the real money if they can.

If his contract was structured like Kerfoots I could actually see them doing that.

While Ottawa is definitely a budget team, they will pay or acquire a player if they think he's good regardless of the cap hit/salary. See: Zaitsev and quite obviously Matt Murray, among other players like Tkachuk, etc.

Not saying Mrazek to Ottawa makes sense, just that I don't think salary is always going to be a no for them. Same for Arizona for that matter.

If we move holl we could prob trade ritchie for Kane, van retains 2.5 to make it work, we may even get a pick

grab a domi for whatever , mrazek and mekhayev would have to go

Kane matthews marner
Domi tavares nylander

still have Bunting Kase kerfoot kampf Spezza engval simmons

that exited me but with team playing so well I question why change anything???

The Leafs locker room is finally cohesive and people are so quick to throw in Kane as a ticking time bomb to just blow up the chemistry. What could possibly go wrong?

Not sure the Leafs will move Mrazek. None of the Marlies goalies are likely ready for full time work yet, and all of them are waiver exempt until 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 anyways. We can afford to take our time with them, and if Campbell goes down, they will want someone like Mrazek to be there to take the reins. Trusting Kallgren or Woll as a full time backup next year may be a little bit too risky.

Let Woll, Kallgren, Petruzzelli, and Scott fight it out for the rest of this year and all of next year, and trust them as waiver-exempt options for our #3 spot (i.e. let Hutch go and don't replace him externally).

Mrazek hasn't really been given a fair chance either. He's played two regular season games.

To clarify, I have no issue with how Mrazek has played. I'm just talking numbers wise.

If they are going to sign Campbell to a contract with something around a 5 mill AAV, they are probably better off with someone like Halak at 1-1.5 mill in the backup spot.

Kuemper made a lot of sense before the emergence from Campbell as I think it was clear Andersen wasn't going to be brought back. Maybe Kuemper looks better under Keefe's system?

Either way, Sakic was bent over a barrel on that trade. Desperation move once Grubauer took the money in Seattle.

I just think Mrazek's contract starts to look too rich once Campbell is locked in. I expect he will be moved in the off-season, but I don't imagine it will be easy with the 3rd year Mrazek was given.

Always a risk but could also be big reward
We lose ritchie in the process?
We could always play without Kane is he does become a problem
It’s just ritchie….I too prob wouldn’t change anything but….we have had many great regular seasons, post seasons is a different story
If we can give a 1st for a guy that didn’t play last season then why not give this a shot?! He’s a beast when playing

I don't think it made any sense to trade a 1st round pick and a prospect for a years worth of Kuemper with retention.

How weird would it feel to acquire Ben Chiarot for a premium after hate watching him the past little while?

Weird, we're actually solid at LD with Rielly, Muzzin, Sandin and to a lesser extent, Sandin.

Chiarot has been put at RD on occaision but is awful at it.

Because we are stuck with an inflated contract if he doesn't work out.

That is a lot of dead cap for a team that already struggles to fit guys with little dead cap as it is.
