I don't think Okposo brings much anymore than Simmonds does. He's also a RWer which is backed up.
Nice find. Wonder which other of these Cap dump wingers have similar salary structures.

interesting.

having a decent year too.

but i worry about making the team slower, and his effort level is always a question.

Donskoi is the less risky, more mobile, rental+ 1 top 6 option on a current bottom feeder.
Connor Brown fits the description as well, but I have more trouble seeing him moved.

With Arizona being transparently tanking and willing to sell cap space, a double retention serves our purposes far more that trading away contributing roster players to free up cap.

The Giordano thing is very interesting for next year. Toronto guy. Wonder if he would want to come here on the cheap to wrap up his career.

I would take him on 1000% if the price makes sense, and I'm talking about Spezza and Simmonds level salary. But I'm not sure there's much room for him anyway. Rielly, Muzzin and Sandin look to be our LD depth for a few years.

I like the idea of Miller (or Horvat, if he loses the power struggle), but I'd want it to involve Holl/Dermott and Ritchie going the other way + futures. Moving Kerfoot would be sub-optimal.

Rumour has it Murray is going on waivers, if the Leafs can swing a deal to move Mrazek, would it be a good idea to pick him up?

People are saying we are going to have to pay too much for goalies starting next season when Jack gets a raise. So our solution is to trade Mrazek, and pickup a far worse goalie, making over double what Mrazek makes??

Thoughts on this deal:

Out: Justin Holl, Petr Mrazek, Nick Ritchie + 2nd + one of Holmberg/Hirvonen/Ovchinnikov or similar level prospect

In: Evander Kane ($5M), James Reimer

I have been a Matt Murray guy for a long time, I wanted him here when Pittsburgh was trading him, I still think he would have done well here but he's not in a good mental space for this market

It's been 4yrs since he's been able to hit even a .900sv%.

some sort of double retention deal with Philly and someone else and get JVR back for a cap hit similar to Ritchie, would be a nice LW for this year and next for MM and AM.

34 and 16 is a great 2-way line. I don't think JVR is a good idea next to them. Maybe next to 91-88.

I actually think JVR would be good on the top line, given AM and Marner are permiter players. They need someone on their arm, to do the dirty work in front, JVR excels at being within 5 feet in front of the opposing net.

When they get to the playoffs, it'll be a Barkov or Huberdeau/Point or Stamkos/Bergeron or Hall. Matthews will get matched with one of those lines and Kampf will probably get the other. I just don't think it's a good idea having JVR out against those groups.

I'm pretty sure Dubas follows the same line of thinking because he went after Foligno instead of more offensive players last TDL.
