Another one that got away!If you wanted Tuch, you needed to get him out of Vegas.

Yeah. Gone over many times, but still at least semi-defensible at the time.Another one that got away!
Fiala.Hey Wild fans, just a couple of questions, curious about MIN/LA being potential trade partners
What's the expected return on Greenway?
And what would be targeted by Minnesota?
Futures. Forward with offensive talent or picks please. Can’t be taking much cap back unless it’s a dump attached to a higher pick.Hey Wild fans, just a couple of questions, curious about MIN/LA being potential trade partners

2nd round pick probably. My hope is he goes in a larger trade. Maybe something like Greenway+2nd+3rd for Boeser ($2M retained).Hey Wild fans, just a couple of questions, curious about MIN/LA being potential trade partners

I'd probably ask for 2nd +3rd but wouldn't consider the 3rd a deal breaker.Hey Wild fans, just a couple of questions, curious about MIN/LA being potential trade partners

Really dodged a bullet with that one. But also, could’ve just let them take Dumba/Scandella or one of our forwards.Could've been worse...Vegas could've asked for Kaprizov instead.

It was Zucker vs. Staal and Brodin vs. Scandella decisions at the time. Or the route that they went.Really dodged a bullet with that one. But also, could’ve just let them take Dumba/Scandella or one of our forwards.
They didn’t need to risk Dumba. They could’ve gone:I think at the time Dumba was thought by most to be more valuable than Tuch.
I don’t think there was any chance of Zucker/Staal getting picked. Positionally speaking, they should’ve offered them maybe a mid round pick to make their pick Scandella over Brodin. Other than that, he should’ve just let them pick.It was Zucker vs. Staal and Brodin vs. Scandella decisions at the time. Or the route that they went.

In terms of value at the time IMO:
Tuch+Haula>Brodin>Scandella>Zucker>Staal
Anti- Spurgite.Haula wasn't coming back. He'd played his way out of the lineup by the end of the season. They recalled JEE (burned an ELC slide year) from the SHL because Haula turned pouty after the Hanzel trade.
Tuch wasn't anything special at the time. A nice prospect, but that was it.
VGK didn't want Scandella (MN dumped him to BUF that same offseason after the expansion draft).
They should have just left Spurgeon unprotected (I said it way back then too).
Anti- Spurgite.
Couldn't disagree more. He's one of the few good things about this team, and has been for years.I don't think it makes one bit of difference to the team winning or losing if he's on the ice or not in the regular season. I think he's part of the reason MN can't do anything in the Playoffs.
But you have to look at what he will be as a 37 year old as his contract expires. Will he carry any trade value the final two years with the cap hit? I agree with you that I don't think he has been this team's biggest problem over the course of the years, but the commitment to him could end up being an issue.Couldn't disagree more. That is true, it could end up being an okay price/contract but the full NMC turning to the 10 team will still pose an issue. I mean at that point he will be the same age as Goligoski, and look how much his play regressed. Goli doesn't rely on movement and skating near as much as what Spurgeon does with size either. I personally have no problem with Spurgeon, and think he is as steady as the come.. but the regression aligned with the timeline does worry me.I think this all depends on where the cap will be in his final two years. From everything we have been hearing, it could rise dramatically before then. If true, his cap hit shouldn't be that big of an issue.

He was a pretty bad against VGK and Winnipeg (Suter was injured, everything was out of whack). He also was really good against Colorado, STL, and Dallas.I don't think it makes one bit of difference to the team winning or losing if he's on the ice or not in the regular season. That's not true.Last year is the first time he's been good since the STL series in 14-15. He was worth every penny of his $2.7m/yr contract. He was worth his $5m/yr contract one of the 4 years (his contract year). He's never been worth his $7.5m contract.
The team doesn't miss him at all when he's injured.
