There also is the school of thought that says maybe, the Wild are trying to see if there is a possibility of a futures only trade. Doesn't make a lot of sense considering the cap space they have, but if they are trotting out the D-corps without Dumba for a few games to see. Perhaps they are seeing if they can get through the year with what they have.
I wouldn’t say it doesn’t make sense. They really can’t take back players that have contracts beyond this year. So the options are:
1) trade for an expiring contract
2) trade for futures

Assuming they don’t include more in the trade.

There was also this

But obviously Dean isn't gonna say "we're planning on trading him so we're seeing what that looks like"

I doubt the Dumba drama is trade related. Russo said there's basically zero interest out there in him, they'll probably just let him walk on July 1.

I think it's more because Dumba has changed his game and attitude for the worse, especially after the Boldy deal, then it became pretty clear that Dumba will not be re-signed.

Russo was on KFAN yesterday afternoon talking about Dumba. Said that the Wild aren't finding any takers for him. Literally zero interest. Things can obviously change as we get closer to the TDL, but right now there isn't a market for him.

I stand by my prediction that Dumba won't be moved and will just walk as an UFA this summer because he provides more value to the team for this postseason than the scraps he might fetch in a trade.
I feel like that is probably the same response they've been getting for 2-3 years now to be honest.

You come up with some truly wild takes. Pun intended.

Better than what we got.
Hayes is paid over 7M, which makes acquiring him a non starter. Also, he is having a good year- this year- try looking into his history.

You'd be hating the deal 10 games into next season.

Granlund is only barely outproducing Freddy Hockey and is paid $5mil for 2 more seasons after this.
Granlund easily puts up 70-80 pts playing with Kap and Zucc …..Freddy has largely failed there and isn’t close to the same level of a player as Granny. I’d send a 2nd and Beckman to Preds for Granlund 40% retained.

Well It’sa good thing you’re not the GM then. That would be a horrible deal. Not only are you giving up assets to acquire Granlund but then you’re also expelling assets just to keep Granlund

Giving up Beckman and a 2nd for 3 more years of Granny at 3m would be the best we could hope to do in the dead cap years.

I think he’d work really well with Kap , he’s not been given much chance to succeed in Nash nor has he been used properly there much. He’s only 30
According to whom?
Isn’t he essentially playing in their top 6, if not top 3?
