Maybe we are better off starting the year with them.

It'll be interesting to see if the market for Helle is stronger from the "one-year" teams, vs those that might extend him. Same for Scheifele. My guess is if Helly would take 5 years at 8 he would be gone already
Yup.Think of teams against the wall that would want them.
If the return is right, why not retain on helle?
Vezina calibre goalie at 3M, you should almost be able to name your price for teams against the cap and their window closing
My sneaky suspicion is Mark ends up a Ranger.
Based on every other year, I’m going to bet on getting the worst backup goalie in the league that no one else signs.Yeah, I do kind of feel like Hellebuyck needs to be decided on by July 1.
We are definitely in need of a back-up goalie, which I expect them to handle on July 1. The question is: are you getting a league minimum backup for 15-20 starts to play behind Hellebuyck, or a "1A" backup who can handle 30-35 starts to platoon with his replacement?
One of the forwards they've failed to develop as a return?
Yup. Likely Kakko but maybe Laf
Right now we're showing 9M of space with 9F, 6D and 1G signedBecause it might interfere on free agency with respect to the Cap
Heard the TSN panel talking about this and Dreger seemed to think there's interest in Helle, but only if retained. Likely cap strapped teams that feel he could help next year.On who?
I think injury risk is too great. We have to keep this offseason momentum going.I am also fine with holding on to both of them and evaluating at the deadline but it seems likely they both move before then
They do have some pieces that would be god fits for us. They do have Zib and Trocheck, but I guess you can't have too many centres. My sneaky suspicion is Mark ends up a Ranger.
